  1. Status just updated (phew!). Listed as Alternate for Ryerson University. Fingers crossed I get moved up Congrats to everyone so far!
  2. Hi everyone! Exciting day! I was wondering if anyone else still has their portal saying "received by administrator" under status? It's for a school I will be attending in the fall so I'm really hoping this changes soon but is it normal for some schools to take longer to post results?
  3. Okay everyone.... here it goes. It's taken 3 cycles but I'm so beyond excited to share this. School: Ryerson University Type: Clinical Psychology MA/PhD Acceptance/Waitlist/Rejection: Acceptance Type of Notification: Unofficial acceptance - formal letter coming on Monday Date Notified: 2/11/2022 My biggest note with this one is that if it doesn't happen your first or second time around please keep trying and do not get discouraged. Continue to gain more experience and follow your path!!
  4. Hey everyone, Did anyone at visiting day catch when Ryerson said they'd be sending out offers?
  5. follow up from last post Official invite to Ryerson's visiting day for February 7th received today!
  6. School: Ryerson (Clinical Psychology) Date of invite: January 2nd Date of interview: January 4th (was informed I will be moving on to their visiting day/final round interview by POI)
  7. HUGE CONGRATS to everyone who got into programs this year!!! I was wondering if anyone knew anything about applying to US programs as a Canadian? In terms of like grant applications, etc. DM me if you do please!
  8. Hi friends! Is it worth it to go back and "re-open" your degree to retake courses or take additional courses as a Post-Bacc in order to increase your GPA?
  9. Preemptive question but do we think it's possible to be an RA for a lab that isn't in your province? I know a lot if not all of RA positions now are remote, so, would it be feasible to be an RA for a university that wasn't where you lived to gain more experience?
  10. Congratulations to all who have been accepted so far! If you wouldn't mind, can I also be included in those PMs please? thank you!!
  11. Unfortunately it does. Second round would be when they select students off of the waitlist.
  12. Yeah, it's definitely very uneasy when there are sooo many POIs hoping to get a student for so little spaces. However, from my knowledge, Ryerson does tend to consistently have a larger number of POIs wanting to take on a student than there are spaces available. Not sure that it helps much but it isn't 'abnormal'
  13. anyone else have a mini panic with that visiting day survey from Ryerson this morning? haha The waiting game continues!
  14. Hey! I would say this is a great sign The only reason they'd be connecting you with them would be so that they can get a better feel or who you are as well. A portion of the decision is "fit with lab/supervisor" sooo meeting with their grad students and getting to know them allows the POIs current grad students to chime in on their opinions as well. I'd have a list of questions prepared for them - though I find this is most successful when you focus on their individual experiences within the program, lab, their own research etc. It's also your chance to get to know them and the low down on the inner workings of the program too!
  15. I had inquired about this as well. The admissions coordinator told me to complete the forms as put in the original email (the ones you are directed to when you click the link)
  16. School: Ryerson Program: Clinical Psychology, MA Interview Type: Invite from Graduate Program Administrator for the virtual visiting day Date of Invite: January 29, 2021
  17. That one I'm not 100% sure of. This year's process is much different than last year's - last year you would have an informal interview, then formal invite to visiting day where you'd have a clinical interview, lab interview, and POI interview. This time it seems like it's your informal, then the clinical, and then you get an invite to visiting day? Honestly it's all very different so... uncharted territory haha
  18. So from what I understand, they're doing second interviews separate from their "visiting day" - so those would be the 'clinical interviews'. I do believe they are working through and finalizing lists for formal invites still --- not sure if this helps anyone at all
  19. Hey! I'm very sorry to hear about the two rejections sent from those universities. You mentioned it was your first time applying but I do hope you don't feel discouraged. Many times this process takes a few tries Also, as for York - unfortunately I've noticed through my own years of applications that they are quite blunt with the portal and their decisions if an application is deemed unsuccessful. Waitlist is typically for those who have interviewed but were not the top selection by the POI. For them to consider you for another branch of psychology I do believe that consideration would have been made upon reviewing your application. I apologize if this isn't the most cheerful response but if this is something you really want to be in I advise continuing at it and toughing out any rejections you may possibly receive. It will all be worth it in the end!!
  20. Last year Ryerson had followed a similar cycle. The other information is based off of previous posters and their experiences as well.
  21. Some POIs don't do the preliminary interviews - as with all schools, so it really just depends (sorry if that isn't the most helpful answer) but from what I gather they are pretty standard in their process
  22. HOLY COW! that's amazing!!! congratulations on all of the interview invites that's so exciting! Let us know how it all goes for you and good luck!!
  23. Ryerson has started their prelim interviews and I believe are wrapping those up to prepare for formal interview invites from the admissions committee. York has not done any interviews yet as far as I'm aware, and I think someone on here had an interview at Guelph but I haven't seen much from them yet this cycle.
