I got waitlisted to UofT! I'm not even upset because I'm just finishing my BSW with only 300 hours of real Social Work experience. I just found out now by email just now

I know someone who got into UofT advanced standing in April but this was in 2019... I'm hoping that is still the same case this year

Hang in there, I was rejected while finishing my BSW. I worked for 2 years and got in to Waterloo!! So you just need that little bit, to be honest, you'll get a lot out of being able to build on your field experience and also the break from school was nice!!
This was what I needed to hear. Thank you for your input!

To those who have an "invited" in their ACORN (advanced standing)- would you mind sharing your experience in the field?

I found out via quest that I was denied entry into Waterloo’s msw program - this is my first time applying and the only school I applied to plus I’m just finishing up my BSW right now so I wasn’t too hopeful. Does anyone know if I can contact admissions and ask for the reason why so I can use it for future applications?
You definitely can. I did that yesterday and they were so great at responding. They spent time giving me details and it gave me a sense of ease to know it was just having more experience. I'm also just finishing my BSW so I what you're feeling.

How did you get notified, via email or did you just check your quest account?
I checked my quest account. I didn't get an email yet

I got my notice for the Waterloo part-time Advanced standing program just a few minutes ago, and unfortunately I didn't get in. If anyone is accepted, I'd love to hear what kinds of experience you had on your resume. I know I had the grades but I'm just finishing my BSW and don't have a tons of experience yet.

Got recommendation for acceptance to Dal today
Congrats!
If you don't mind me asking- when did you submit your application & what province are you in? I wonder if when you submitted your application and how far you are from NS dictates how early you get the acceptance. I'm in Alberta -
Congrats to those who got accepted already! I'm wondering if anyone applying to Dal heard anything yet? I heard they start sending acceptances pretty early

Hi Folks. I hope everyone is having a balanced new year... I am wondering if someone knows whether applicants are required to send in an updated version of our transcripts? As applications were due before we completed our fall semester. (Some context: I applied for MSW Advanced for Fall 2021).
Sorry I'm replying to this a second time. Im still getting the hang of how these forums work haha. I would advise you to email the programs you applied for this question. I had the same question and I emailed each one. Im not too sure where you applied but UofT said for me to email them an update transcript and UWaterloo told me that they'll ask for the updated transcript if I get an acceptance. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone :)
I'm a 4th year BSW student at the University of Calgary. I'm looking into applying for my masters this year and was looking into online MSW programs. I noticed many people here have been accepted into the online programs I was looking into (Laurier, Dalhousie, WLU). I was wondering if anyone who has completed/is in the online MSW program could share their experience? how did you like the online stream vs in person learning?
(Setting aside that most of us are online this semester- looking for more info on those programs that are strictly online outside of Covid)

Thank you I didn't get into Dal, Waterloo, or Windsor because of the lack of experience so I was starting to think UofT would be the same. Applying when you're finishing your BSW is risky but a good learning experience. Im hoping to apply again if I don't get in after a couple of years of working. Thanks everyone in this forum for the advice and support!
