Last year when I applied to the U of A I received an email stating that there was a "new message that requires my attention" and to log onto the portal. So you get a tiny bit of a warning I guess lol. Mine was a rejection, so that kinda took the excitement out of it ?- 1,373 replies

You're not crazy. The wait is a bugger... This semester I have more classes, so I feel I'm more distracted. But last year I'm sure I checked a few times a day ?- 1,373 replies

Yep. Last year mine said pre-screening even after they sent my rejection notification lol. So don't panic... they aren't the most apt at updating them (in my humble experience of course).- 1,373 replies

I did the same thing, except with ENMU. Combining my prerequisites I had already completed for the U of A, I'm scheduled to finish my Bachelors in CDIS by July (so under 1 full year with only 3 classes per semester). It was superbly affordable, and I received my Provisional Acceptance into their Masters for this Fall already. Still hoping to get into the U of A of course, but it's nice to have a plan B already in place ?Congrats to you as well! ?- 1,373 replies

I was told they don't weigh it heavily.... I'm not a fast typer, and I felt like I BOMBED last years. I was concerned, so I spoke to Vicki about it. She told me not to worry! At least this year you get to know your quartile! Last year you didn't get any indication at all. ?- 1,373 replies

As far as I know, it's a hard cut off. Have you spoken to your reference? They have until midnight I believe. I was panicking on the weekend thinking Feb 1st was Monday, but my referee submitted it Sun. So I feel your pain. I'd just "gently" remind them and check in with them ASAP!- 1,373 replies

Mine is still pre-screening... and it was most of last year as well until the end. In fact, I had notice of a decision made on my application before they changed it to decision lol. So, as Neuroling aptly stated, I wouldn't worry too much ?- 1,373 replies

I can only speak to the U of A application, but I think as long as you have some sort of transcript uploaded and pay you can proceed. The key is that you must choose "in progress" for those schools that you wish to change at a later date (and not "completed"). To my knowledge, if you choose completed, it won't allow you to upload any changes. Perhaps double check with Vicki?- 1,373 replies

Maybe it's one of those "personal preference" cases in which both are accepted? The teacher in me cringes when I say "a SLP" though ??- 1,373 replies

I think it should be "an SLP". Since SLP is abbreviated into letters, and since the letter "s" is pronounced as "Ess" (or a short e followed by an /s/ sound), then it should be preceeded with the article "an". This ensures two vowel sounds aren't side by side. Hopefully this makes sense? Saying "a SLP" sounds incorrect to me. ?♀️- 1,373 replies

List of Online Programs
SpeechieWannaB replied to jomyers.online's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
This is amazing! Thanks! Noticed that Akron isn't on the list.... any info about that program? TIA! -
Hi, all! This thread has been extremely helpful! Curious if you'd be willing to share your stats? I'm considering doing the leveling and applying to the program. Currently I have a BEd with a special education minor, worked as a teacher, worked as an SLPA and have 'decent' stats.... It's SUPERBLY competitive in Canada, and I didn't quite make the cut this year for my hometown uni despite having a fairly competitive application. Trying to stay optimistic that this one will be a good fit and a realistic option for me (despite a full year of coursework ?). TIA.

Anyone from Canada and apply to this program? Can anyone share stats that have gotten accepted? Are the classes mostly in the daytime or evenings? Synchronous? I'm considering doing a year of levelling courses and then applying, as I wasn't able to secure a spot at the U of A this year. I'm concerned about wasting more time "waiting" to see if next year will be my year with the U of A, plus online courses are my "jam" lately. I feel the price isn't that bad, and they sound like they are a viable option without relocating. This is HUGE for me, as I have kids, so one semester away may be doable as opposed to relocating all together! Any insights apprecaited! TIA

Thanks ❤ I thought I highlighted EDI and honestly, I thought my letter of intent was solid ?♀️ If anyone is willing to look at my resume and letter of intent to offer some feedback, I'd sure appreciate that! The only thing that MAY have been my downfall was the CASPER as I'm not a fast typer. Since they don't ever give you a score, it's difficult to speculate how I did. I will be contacting Vicki in the upcoming weeks to ask for some direct feedback. Unfortunately for me the U of A is my ride or die, unless my husband finds work elsewhere. We might consider UBC for next app cycle... If anyone has any great connections to offer in order to diversify my resume/volunteer opportunities in the Edmonton area (pending COVID getting under control), I'm all ears! Best wishes to all of you still waiting! ❤- 1,803 replies
