It was a personal email from the chair for my waitlist. She said that they had double the applicant pool(160 compared to 80 last year) and that due toe Covid they had a smaller cohort this year. I know this doesn't help, but I thought I would share what she told me. Good luck!

Congrats on the waitlist! I haven't heard back yet...but just wondering- whats your subfield?

I'm pretty bummed about BU, I thought I was a great fit for IR and I spoke with several professors. I knew this year would be extremely tough though. I also had 4 strong letters of recommendation

I also had 4 strong letters and had spoken with a few profs at BU. I'm not that bummed because it wasn't my top choice, but I'm a bit like..ooouff, starting off this admission cycle on a bad note LOL

The only professor they had that was a close fit for my interests left last month, so I’m assuming there was really no viable alternative.

Fair enough. Ya still got USC!!! Did your BU portal update? I still haven't heard from them....just waiting for the rejection LOL

Does anyone have any tips for contacting graduate admissions offices to find out when decisions are going to be released? Best to call or to email? Am just thinking of contacting a couple which are slightly behind schedule this year to find out what is up.

I've seen people in here post that they've called before - maybe because its more instant/direct?

Lmao fam I recorded  2 videos for myself, for admission and rejection. One where I congratulate myself and another where I comfort myself. Just like Michael in the office. This is how stressed out I am

I’m literally laughing so hard. This gave me life today

Thanks! It's nice to know I will have options now.

It's humbling to think that these schools essentially want to pay me to be there. I've felt "imposter syndrome" for a while now, and while I don't think that's gonna stop anytime soon, it's reassuring that schools (no matter the ranking) see potential in me.

Of course. That reassurance must be a great feeling. Your admissions are well deserved so give yourself some credit!
