  1. I declined maybe a week or two ago now. I know the deadline to decide is April 15 so hopefully there will be some more slots soon!
  2. Congratulations!! I wound up choosing UNC but I would have been health policy track as well. Would love to talk to another person interested in health policy!
  3. Not silly at all! That was the part I hated the most about the application process. I sent my boss about a dozen thank you emails, plus a card, plus a small gift. Feels so awkward and burdensome but I think the reality is most people are happy to help. I know I've been in the position of providing former employees references and it always makes me happy to help them out and show off about how great they are. I am sure your former professors and mentors feel the same (plus they're probably even more used to it!).
  4. For what it's worth, I am 12 years out from grad school, 13 out from undergrad and one of my LORs was from an undergraduate professor and, although she's awesome, she wasn't my main mentor. She was still super gracious about it and I don't think it's rude to ask at all. Even though I'm "only" in my 30s, most of my professors have retired and are hard to get a hold of. But, for the person I was able to get a hold of she was very responsive and made it clear she has a process in place for this kind of request. I think they're used to it.
  5. Just formally declined hopkins DrPH and accepted UNC DrPH program. Would love to connect with others heading to UNC! And good luck to those of you on waitlists, hoping something comes through for you soon!

  7. Congratulations from a fellow working mom of 2 small kids!! I'm also beginning part time studies in the fall so can appreciate overflowing plates. Wishing you all the best and congrats on your accomplishments!
  8. Is anyone else on here considering/going to UNC's executive drph? I am heavily leaning that way (hopkins is the other possibility) pending figuring out financing. Would love to talk with anyone else going or considering!
  9. Congrats!! That program looks great.
  10. Thank you!!
  11. Hi all! I am feeling extraordinarily lucky as I received acceptance at UNC and Hopkins and I am now trying to sort out which would be the best fit to attend. I am feeling one is a better curriculum/personality fit and the other is a better fit for my life/schedule/finances. Would any current students be willing to talk with me? I think I recall @DrPH2025and @BigTuna saying you're currently in these programs. If you wouldn't mind me sending you a direct message I'd be so appreciative! I am also getting the sense none of the DrPH programs have financial aid options but wondering if anyone else has insight into that. Or tips on how to have those conversations. Apologies if this is the incorrect thread for this conversation!
  12. I only interviewed at one school for a DrPH program (UNC) and sent a brief thank you note to the two people I interviewed with. One responded, one did not and I was notified recently they referred me with a recommendation for admission to the graduate school. Personally, I think it can't hurt!
  13. Good luck! No, I didn't apply to USF although their program looks great. My interview was with UNC and was an hour. Wishing you the best on your interview!
  14. Is this for DrPH? I only did one interview (applied to only 2 programs) but was surprised that there were no questions on research interest in my interview. I get the sense that for PhD it would be riskier since funding depends on it while most DrPH programs (at least the part time ones) are self funded. That said, I am by no means an expert! It's just been my sense that research match matters more in PhD and your leadership potential/passion for application of research matters more in DrPH.
  15. I think mine was super awkward if it makes you feel any better!
