[i didn't find a better place for this post, however, I really wanted to share this article, mods feel free to move the thread if you find a better location for it] Some friend of mine (he is actually a grad student right now) sent me this article a couple of days ago. I already made my mind, I'll go into grad school... it is kind of a vocation... Any thoughts?

Woow that's sad... How awful that he decided not to pursue a PhD... I mean, if he had research and was backed up up by a professor maybe he had potential... a shame that the lack of consideration from a school can desmotivate someone in such a way...

I still have two answers to come. However I voted, asuming them as rejections (RUPA)... And if they were rejections... I would have done exactly as expected! two admits [safe school and realist school with good research fit], 4 rejections [on reach schools] Anything could come from those two schools left.. maybe I shouldn't have voted yet, but I'll let you know later. Great poll idea!

UCSD-CS... their site says: "We will begin notifying applicants some time in February. However, applicants are accepted and rejected on a rolling basis until mid-April. Every applicant will receive notice of acceptance or rejection to our program by the end of this period." Apparently they stick to their word, since I have not heard from them yet... mid-April = 4/15? XD

I think they are planning to send at least a couple more positive replies, if they weren't, there would be no point in sending an e-mail telling us to wait until April's first week. Though, they are probably sending just a few more... chances are low for people who are still waiting are indeed low...

Loool i'm in the undecided mayority... However I have made my decission regarding programs that had already accepted me, I am just waiting to hear from the other ones before making this a formal decission!

Something similar happened to me with UF... they sent me an e-mail mostly on financial aid.... I had to read the letter they sent me like four times, just to realize that the admissions was there, mostly implied, rather than explicit... however... I was indeed accepted! your acceptances should be coming soon 8) congrats in advance!

Beware... angry applicant :evil: mmm don't want to sound like a support group, but hold on... we are all on the same boat! I have found that you should find some way of unleashing your anger... I'll start jugging tomorrow... need to focus the extra energy into something positive....

That's funny... We grad applicants must have some kind of compulsive desire for attention or something similar (perhaps people in Psychology could name it) ... We all think our applications have been lost or ignored.... and that make us more depressive in this whole process XD *Why don't they look at my application? *
