So.. are the interviews only for potential waitlist candidates? Or did people get in yet already?

I saw a rejection for the program this morning on the boards...

This looks like it happened at Harvard's Am Civ last year!

Last year I got a travel stipend at one school and realized that I could have applied to receive funding for "special cases" ie poor students lol for the second school. Both masters programs... I just ended up using points for a flight and stayed at a friends house so they both were essentially free trips. Best thing is to ask if they are"funded visits" Sometimes they don't mention that they are but they are... Other times they don't but they have a special fund for students with financial restrictions to visit... Best of luck! if you can get creative with flights and take advantage of points or sales and stay with friends or grad students you can def keep your costs down.

Stanford interview posted yesterday! !!!!!

Not to drive you crazy, but my first interview invite came on a Sat morning from an East Coast school and I received an acceptance from a West Coast school past 5pm during the middle of the week... I wasnt expecting either at those times so it was a nice surprise.

lol i meant..at a school that interviews, why wouldnt your POI choose to get more info about you. My POI explained the process to me at UPenn... I was only talking about UPenn. For instance, at Harvard.. most programs here dont interview at all.

My friend is in the MA program at UIC and he loves it. He has a good cohort. He says profs are accessible. It's in Chicago which is amazing. And he has a lot of opportunities as a student to get engaged in work in the city. Seems like a great program! Good luck!

It's finally February!!! This month shall provide all the answers!! Even Harvard and Yale that wait til the very last second to inform! LOL Oh February, how I've waited for you.

I'm not eaxctly sure what this is trying to say, but for UPenn the shortlist has already been made for sociocultural. They said they were interviewing because they were going to meet the adcom this week. I can't imagine why a POI would NOT want to interview you to have more information to advocate on your behalf. It also seemed to be standard practice in that dept. However, this is just sociocultural. Can't say anything else for any other field.

DGS called me to tell me more about the program and congratulate me. She mentioned 4 years guaranteed funding with a GA/TA for the 5th year. I was really shocked for a UC. really, really shocked.

This is probably for HUNAP. They have a really great group that reaches out to Native students to welcome them, aid in the transition, and seek funding. They do this for all Native students. Theyre a great bunch and I'm sure they can answer all your questions about being at Harvard. Good luck! Hope you get an admission letter in the mail soon!

I called a couple of weeks ago and she told me that they were barely putting together files. i thought that decisions came out around next week last year... doesnt that mean that they should be meeting this week?!?!?!
