From what I've noticed in the past, depts always post the latest you could hear back from them. As in, if you didn't get in. If you're in, you should hear much sooner. Soooo... yay?

So far I know that two of us had UPenn interviews this past wknd. Shortlists have already been made. Decisions should be made in the next two weeks. About 5 spots this year.

Is 5 pretty low considering that Crim is such a small field? I'm not quite sure what people think of this program in the field. Anyone know?

UCI is the only crim program that I applied to. I applied to it without considering rank at all. I just applied because I've always admired my POIs work. How is UCI ranked anyway? This is probably something that I should know... lol

Thanks for the Stanford info! I was just making sure since these results have sort of been coming out a little earlier. UPenn didn't interview last year until around Feb so I was really shocked. My Penn interview went really, really well. POI was amazing. Decisions should be out in about two weeks. Fingers crossed!!

I applied to 8 programs. I'm sure I'll find a fit somewhere. I'm confident we all will find our place. Just have to wait. I'm really looking forward to hearing back from Irvine. I really like my POI from there. UCI just seems like it would be a good fit.

I think it might be. Historically, most of the schools I have applied to start notifying mid-Feb. However, I've already started hearing back from schools! It's crazy! Best of luck to everyone. I really think we've gotten sucked into the accelerated notification season and I'm not complaining.

Thank you!!!!!!!! <3 Mine was an "informal interview." I was really just explaining by research more and my background. It wasn't one of those "i'm gonna rip you apart" interviews at all. What are you doing now? What are somethings I should know about you? Why this school? Why this field? etc. Really informal. I also had a chance to ask questions about my POIs new projects. Any whispers about NYU?? They started interviewing pretty early last year.

I think there is one thing we can all agree on- none of us know what programs are really looking for. lolololol Last year, I got rejected from a masters program where I was a perfect fit only to be accepted to a program where I did not fit. AT. ALL. As in, once I received the acceptance letter I realized that I had accidentally applied to the WRONG program. lol This has led me to believe that there is no rhyme or reason to programs that accept you or not. This year, I was just outright rejected from a program that has a current student with very similar profile to my own. AND I happened to get an interview from a place I was not expecting to hear from. It's confusing AND exciting!

Irvine is the only crim program that I applied to. I know competition has been pretty fierce in the last few years for programs across the spectrum - makes me nervous. I, too, tried to programs that I felt were a good fit. Out of all programs that I applied to I feel that Irvine is the best fit. However, I applied to Am Studies and Anthro programs too. I love all of the programs that I applied to but I do have my favorites- NYU and Harvard Am Studies and Irvine crim. I'm hopeful.
