My positive notifications have come while I'm on my way home from the gym. Needless to say it's been a healthy 2 weeks!

Hey @Nat_Foot, I thought it was kind of weird that all of the accepts on the results pg for brown are international students. Any chance you could investigate further to see if they for some reason released acceptances for international students but haven't yet for domestic students? ... Or if I'm just reading into this too much and they just happened to accept a ton of international students this year?

Question -- According to the results page all of the brown admits are international. Does that seem weird to anyone? (Is it possible they are releasing domestic and international results separately? Or did they really just give the majority if not all offers to international students? The latter would surprise me due to the usual funding restrictions for international students).

Sure, so at MIT the philosophy and linguistics department are the same. My friend is doing her linguistics phd but she overheard them saying that the phil admissions committee would be meeting tomorrow at 3, and sent me a message. I asked her if she thought they'd be finalizing their decisions then, and she said if the process was anything like linguistics she expected them to be. That, combined with the prediction date, leads me to believe that at the earliest, tomorrow evening they might be releasing. It's possible they may need to meet again, but honestly I doubt it considering past release dates.

posting it here too: a friend of mine is at MIT and she informs me the ad comm is meeting tomorrow at 3. looks like tomorrow's the day!

I have a friend at the MIT department, she said they're having their adcomm meeting tomorrow at 3 Tomorrow it is!

You might email your contact at each school and ask if someone in a comparable rank to yours on the WL has gotten in in past years. That might be helpful... our speculation is really just that, speculation.

That's what I wanted to hear! Bring it on Harvard and MIT. If they don't call me by 7 I'll just drop by and press my nose against the department door. I'm literally within walking distance of both.

Thanks!!! i'm like, not sure how much I should be caring about rank.... like, if I somehow got off the WL at Arizona or something it would be 15k a year TAing every semester. How do I even begin to assess if that would be worth it?

Guys, I need to share my excitement!!! I got an updated offer from UCSB with an amazing fellowship. It comes with 3 years where I don't have to work at all and still get a great stipend, and 3 years guaranteed TAship. I know that it's not a "top school" by any means, but man am I tempted right now to accept and frolic on the beach
