  1. I'm moving in late June/early July. I'm hoping to get a bit of a head start/get situated before the semester begins.
  2. I did a fifth year as a defacto masters student. I tend to 9:30-5:30 it, every day. Most of my work is research based. I'm enrolled in two grad courses, so there isn't a ton of work, maybe 5 hours of class per week with 4 hours of homework/reading per week. The remaining 45 hours a week I spend on research and data acquisition.
  3. Still waiting on UNC as well. WTF! Anyway, I'm counting it as an unofficial waitlist, because it makes me feel better.
  4. I asked my recommenders for rec letters in August for apps due in November.
  5. Your gre is really low, but I can't tell if it's low in one and stellar in the other. Most programs care about the percentiles of the sub scores.
  6. No. All that matters are coursework, research, gre scores, and interests.
  7. I don't believe they need to be in the same department, but you'd have to select a primary mentor. And, they'd likely have to have some sort of pre-existing working relationship.
  8. Accepted: Vanderbilt UC: Davis Rejected: ASU USC
  9. Quant psych could be an option. However, from your post it isn't clear what research topic you're interested it.
  10. Ask them.
  11. Ask you PI. I was able to transfer in all the grad classes I had taken during undergrad to my PhD.
  12. You might be able to use it to fund participants on mturk.
  13. 50% as in they can only pay you a 1/2 stipend? You may need to be more specific if you want help from the fora.
  14. It probably isn't a good sign. I would check the results board at the other schools and post this in the history board.
  15. as long as the research is good, an editor shouldn't care about who wrote it.
  16. My acceptance was emailed to me on Feb 26th or so. Odds are if you haven't heard by now, you've either been rejected or waitlisted.
  17. I'm pretty sure that the GRE is out of 340. 170+170 = 340.
  18. Is your top choice flexible on funding? Mine was. So I waited until I knew what my other offer would likely be.
  19. I heard back on Feb 26th or so about fin-aid. However, I'm a PhD student, so perhaps it's a bit different for us. I heard that most of the money won't be dolled out until after sequestration has settled in.
  20. You might have to do a joint mentorship between departments. Had I gone to Davis, I would have had primary mentors in social and quantitative. At the program I am going to, I'm adding a prof to my dissertation committee from outside the school. Suggestion: Look at all the cognitive psych and linguistics programs that have quantitative methods programs.
  21. That's what my school offered. I only need a 3.0 to remain in good standing.
