  1. For what area? You need to be a lot more specific.
  2. Well, here's my back-up plan if that helps. IF I don't get into either of the programs I'm interviewing at. (There might be a funding problem if the fiscal cliff fiasco doesn't get dealt with by March 1st). 1) Volunteer full time in one of my ug labs. 2) Keep working part-time on consulting 3) Work on getting publications churned out 4) retake the GRE, bump up my quant gre into the 165+ range 5) See if I can get paid to be a TA for experimental psych or psych stats instead of consulting. 6) Apply to a broader range of PhD programs where there are quant phd programs OR personality phd programs with quant minors / funded stats masters 7) Apply for NSF, NDSEG, and any other math/psych fellowship.
  3. From your list, I've heard back from Davis. Their interview day is on the 25th. I believe all the invites have been sent. I'm in quant/personality.
  4. Check of this: It might be helpful, depending on your subfield.
  5. It has a range, where the minimum is six weeks. There's still reason, but I won't debate you on this. You're in a different field from the OP.
  6. False, in psych, where the review process can be as short as 6 weeks, having an article under review is important. It'll demonstrate that you did something in the lab, and not just coding data.
  7. It depends. The candidates with offers might reject before then. You have to sit tight.

  9. I updated my profs that I had been in contact with about significant changes to my cv. (I dropped matrix algebra to work on a revived longitudinal study. )
  10. It might depend on the department. Which one are you aiming for?
  11. When you say teach, do you mean that you were a TA for a college course? Or do you mean that you taught a college course?
  12. Could the person who received the recent invite from Davis let me know what discipline it is?
  13. Which branch of Chicago? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/15/chicago-school-of-professional-psychology_n_2140757.html
  14. I'm still waiting for the paperwork. Part of me is convinced that my PIs will figure out that I didn't sweep the field, like they expected.
  15. I'm actually doing this for one of my schools. (My top choice school in fact). I asked my PI if it was ok. He said that it was fine that I was staying longer. He asked if I needed extra funds. And suggested that I stay at the hotel for the time that the other students were their, so that I could get a better sense of future peers. But it would be a big deal if I wanted to stay with my friend for the entire period. However, I already know that I've been admitted, so this may not apply if you're still fighting for slots (ie you're in clinical).
  16. I think you need to gather your thoughts a bit. Are you looking for ways to classify people by memory type?
  17. I'm so ready for the application season to be over. Just give me my verdicts, already.

Wish I had a May time machine. I'd be graduating and I'd have all the grad school stress behind me!

  18. I wouldn't worry about it. Programs that have admitted me still have my application listed as "ready for review." Programs that have rejected me have my application listed as "submitted" or "in review." It doesn't mean anything.
