SDSU and UoP

Recommended Posts

Anyone hear anything from San Diego State or University of the Pacific? Both schools sent out their decisions around this time last year but I haven't seen anything posted on grad cafe or heard anything. Just curious if anyone has reached out to either department or gotten any updates since applying.

I did see on SDSU's website they state that: "Admission decisions will be made by mid-March, and you will be notified via e-mail by early April." That seems super late to me, I hope they go out sooner than that.

UoP’s admission committee met and made decisions on Monday. I have not received an email with a decision yet though. It is possible they are still in the process of reviewing applications.

Thanks for the update. Can I ask how you found that out? From what I can see only 1 person has received a decision so far this cycle.

I just got an email from SDSU, they apparently had an issue where their webportal showed admissions decisions when they haven’t made any. However, they did say they got over 500 applications this year, significantly more than last year, and they are still reviewing applications.

This is a silly question, I know you do not have an answer to. But I got the same emails and I am curious if the portal decision was indicative of the decision you will receive later on. What do you think? Do you think If you got rejected or waitlisted, you will be waitlisted or rejected?

No idea, I’m hoping the decision showing up on the portal is a bug and not a premature sending of the final decision. The email I got, and a subsequent email, makes it sound like a bug.

I got it was an email it was a bug too. I am just thinking my scores aren't competitive enough for SDSU, but like I am also hoping it was wrong.

I think that perhaps the SDSU graduate school posted the results but the SLHS department wasn't ready to release results yet.

did you get a notification of acceptance? I see in your signature that you listed SDSU as an acceptance. Interestingly I didn't get any emails nor has my portal had any updates.

I believe if your portal has a rejection, that is probably going to be the final result, at least that is what I am assuming for myself. I think they probably didn't want to send anything official out yet because they still have applications to get through and want to give themselves some wiggle room to make changes if need be, but overall I think if it was already inputted in the system to accidentally be sent out, its probably not going to change.

It also seems to me that a rejection may also indicate that no decision was entered yet. Hard to tell, but hopefully that is the case?

Hi, I did have an acceptance both in an email but also on the portal also with an option to accept or deny the offer. However today upon checking it was gone. I heard however that rejections were still available on the portal. Not really sure what's going on! I took it off of my signature since it's not on my portal anymore and I'm confused! haha

Looks like decisions for SDSU just came out. I got waitlisted. I wish we could know how long the waitlist is!

I received an email too, but I'm still not certain that this is the web portal glitching again? Although I got an email different from the glitch email.

Hmm. Well, I never got anything from either of the glitches, this is the first correspondence I've received. And they did say in the email about the glitches that any decisions would come only in an email from her. I don't know if I should've waited to respond to the waitlist email then..

Ahh that makes me feel better. The web portal glitch came to me signed the graduate affairs person but this one came from the Speech graduate advisor!!! I didn't think to reread the other email. Thanks!

For people that have gotten these emails today, does it reflect in your portal? My portal still says "department reviewing file for eligibility".

Mine also says "department reviewing file for eligibility". I think I saw that other people's changed with the glitch

For sure!! I have a 3.1 GPA from my original undergrad (oof), which was in linguistics, and then a 3.8 from my 2nd bachelor's in communicative disorders! My last 60 units were like, 3.7 or something, I believe. My GRE scores were a 153 Quant/168 Verbal/5.5 writing. I've also spent the past two years working as a para in a kindergarten class, and I've got quite a few observation/shadowing hours! So while my GPA was pretty weak for my first degree, I'd like to think the other stuff made up for it ?
