It's about that time of the year again!
Does anyone know what happens if you only have 2 years left in your PhD program? Given that the awards are all 3 years now.

It is that time...but maybe a bit too early.  I was examining the posts from last year and results didn't come out until early April.  Let's hope it is earlier this year.  (I am not sure about your question.)

Last year the awards were 2 or 3 years depending on how much time you have left. This year it was changed to 3 years only, yet people with 2 years left are still eligible to apply. So I was wondering how would that work? would there be an extra year of funding?

In all cases, this year I'm sure there will be delays given everything that's happening in the world. COVID-19 and all...

Sucks about COVID-19, stay safe everyone and good luck.

I emailed NSERC.  This is the automated reply:

Thank you for your message to the Scholarships and Fellowships Division of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Due to the high volume of emails we are currently receiving, our response may be delayed.

NSERC recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting students, researchers, and academic institutions across Canada and around the world. As such, timelines for some programs will be modified.

The results release date for the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s Program (CGS M) will be postponed to mid-April.

The Notifications of Decision for the Canadian Graduate Scholarships–Doctoral (CGS D) / NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships–Doctoral (PGS D) competition will made available to applicants in mid-April, as well as the letters containing rankings and scores in the competition.

Looks like we have to wait another three weeks!

Thanks for creating this thread and posting updates about when we should expect results. I'm a SSHRC doctoral award applicant and have been really confused as my application is no longer visible under my portfolio on the website. My last email from them was an acknowledgement that my application was received in December. Is that the case for everyone?

Just logged into my account and checked. My application still says that it has been received (been like that for months). I also received a similar email about the acknowledgment.

Yes, were in the same boat. Good luck!!!

The latest update posted today says the results are proceeding as planned with no delays. Nothing new still. They said delays will be communicated, but so fat the only delay announcement received is the automated reply you received?

Yes, the automated reply doesn't mention CGS-D/PGS-D as being delayed.  Only that resutls will be released mid-Arpil.

In my eyes, a mid-April decision date is a MAJOR delay.  This is not 17 weeks since the universities submitted the applications nor 23 weeks since October 17th (the deadline for applications not through an institution).  According to the published 'expected' timeline, the results should have been released last week.

Good luck everyone!  :)

The automated reply last year also said the same thing though! i remember the winners received E-mails on the 28th of March, while everyone received the official notification of result in the mail mid-April. I was one of the unfortunate souls who had to wait! So hopefully this year it's the same. They just say that so people wouldn't keep asking them questions.

However, in the official update posted on the website, the one you put the link above, it says that CGS-M is delayed while C/PGS-D is still as is.

Here's to hoping :)

I don't even see that - just that the current version of my CV has been verified. :S Perhaps I wasn't eligible? Who knows. Will be watching my mail (and having a friend check my mail in the US). Yay for waiting!

I'm wondering if it's possible that ALL results are communicated via snail mail this year, including winners? As in, no emails? They changed up their notification system last year and only emailed winners - those who were waitlisted or rejected had to wait to be notified through snail mail in mid-April. This was different from the year before apparently. Thoughts?

I feel like we have no way to predict it.
Does anyone know which date did NSERC tell to people for communicating the results on last year? I think people (at least winners) started getting news on March 29th but did they say there would have news on mid-April like this year? Because if so we could have news very soon.

Yeah the auto reply last year said mid-April too. And only the winners got their emails on March 28th. The rest had to wait till they got the snail-mail mid-April

Of the people that I know that applied (from my unviersity), none of them have received an email yet!  I believe that there is hope that the acceptance emails have not been sent out.

Also, their most recent update says that the results are expected in April.  So maybe this week?

NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships and Canada Graduate Scholarships – Doctoral (PGS/CGS-D)
The release of results from the 2020 PGS/CGS–D competition is proceeding as planned. Results are expected in April. Should delays be experienced, they will be communicated as soon as possible.

I noticed the same thing when logging into the portal, my application seemed to have completely disappeared. I emailed my university's scholarship officer who handles Tri-Council applications, she contacted SSHRC who just got back to her saying that they remove the applications once the deadline has passed. Which doesn't really make sense because only one other person I know who applied is having the same problem (out of 8!) But they assured her that they still have my application. Hope that helps!

Me either! I heard back from my Graduate Financial Aid Manager yesterday and they said that NSERC sent notice that C/PGSD is proceeding as normal, but that the university hadn't received any results yet.
