Totally unrelated but was curious- does anyone know if people transfer schools during PhD? Is that remotely possible?

It's very rare. Sometimes if you're early in your career (year 1 or 2) and your PI moves then you can transfer to the new institution. If you're later in your grad school years then you move to the new institution but remain enrolled at your old one.

Hi

Has any international applicant heard back (even rejections are nice) from these programs: UPenn Bioengineering, Yale Immunobiology, Columbia CMBS and Harvard BBS?

Thank you.

Hello, I am an international student. Recent graduate from an international institution. I got an interview invitation from Columbia CMBS Umbrella Track on Dec 18th and I interviewed end of January. We are supposed to hear back soon about final decisions. I did apply to Penn BioE and I am pretty sure I have been rejected since I did not hear back and some friends of mine from the US have already interviewed and gotten offers. Hope this helps! Good luck!

It occurs, but is quite uncommon. This is unlike undergrad, and you'll need to offer a very good reason. Much of the time, people transfer schools to follow their PIs when their PIs change institution.

Me too, but my rejection was not post-interview. I did not even get an invite. Good luck on your other applications!

Does anyone know if Weill Cornell, BCMB Program is done sending out acceptances? I thought my interviews went well and all the faculty seemed very enthusiastic about my chances but still haven't heard back from them :(

Hi I am also waiting on BCMB after being informed of a waitlist status by the program coordinator. Have you tried reaching out to them? They don't seem to actively inform the applicants of their wl status...

Yeah I had reached out to the program coordinator. Still haven't gotten a final decision from WCGS, I'm assuming its probably going to be a reject unfortunately.

I am filling up the ds-160 and wanted to ask if to give yes or no as an answer:

Do you have any specialized skills or training, such as firearms, explosives, nuclear, biological, or chemical experience ?

Also, do we need to include middle school and high-school details in education section?

I said yes and mentioned that my master's was biological lab sciences to justify that. I think it should be fine. As for the second question, I didn't mention high school actually. I think they only ask for postsecondary education, which is whatever is beyond high school.
