I emailed asking about funding timelines and was told funding details email will go out 5-10 business days after an admission offer and that they are working hard to get the information out as soon as possible. Really hope it is not another week of this...

omg seriously!?!? they have to realize they are behind other schools right

Rejected from the MPA program. The status was updated this morning. Definitely disappointing but I'm fortunate to have options between SIPA, Wagner, & McCourt. Congratulations to everyone who got in! Fantastic news and go (safely) celebrate it with loved ones.

This is super confusing to me. You got into NYU, Columbia and GTown, which are better programs but got denied from GWU?

No idea if their MPA is way more competitive than the MPP but I definitely wouldn’t have gotten into Columbia but got accepted for the MPP at GWU. Honestly you shouldn’t be disappointed, you did great! Still a bit confusing though.

They just responded to my email:

"It can take several business days for an award letter to be generated. Please note that the University was closed Thursday and Friday for Spring Break."

~Fabulous~

I appreciate that and I'm absolutely grateful for the programs I was admitted to. My background is atypical for MPA/MPP programs so I was expecting there to be some schools who found it interesting and worth a shot, while others might believe it wasn't a good fit. I had mediocre, at best, grades in undergrad, below 3.0, but decent GRE scores 164V/162Q. I've been out of school for 9 years working for a general contractor, but I'm now looking to move into housing/education policy.

I'm so excited to make a move this year and go into the public sector. Best of luck to you and the rest of this thread as we all begin our graduate degrees!

I got my aid offer just now via email. It is ... kind of shockingly low! I'm disappointed, I was excited about GW but have better financial offers from what I would consider to be better programs.

My personal conspiracy theory is that they pull merit funding from the Colombian college’s budget, not from the Trachtenberg school’s own budget, and they got decisions ready so late that there was basically no money left in CCAS. This is not at all substantiated, just my theory.

Yikes! I am still waiting on mine.

I'm unaware of how the system works. If enough people decline financial offers, what happens to the money?

At most schools, it just goes back to the larger pot and is reallocated to other admitted students. However, it's my understanding people have to ask.

Question: Who did you email to get this response? I am getting nervous that I still have not heard back.
