rachaelski Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I am feeling a little better now that I found a spelling error in my rejection letter.
Jonhecht89 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 How can they be sending emails out after business hours??? I am completely freaking out. CONGRATS to those who have already heard good news!! What countries are you finalists for? ETA/Research? I'm Finland for research.
Albanski Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Im not bummed out as I thought I would be. I am actually relieved that I got rejected now. Being rejected in April sucks. At least now, I can plan appropriately. Like my momma says "Hey, at least you tried!"
Ryan B Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Mynah--I would be going to Jo'burg and Durban, and likely making some research trips to Pretoria as well. It would be a history grant--I'm trying to write a biography of a South African journalist/apartheid resister.
Jonhecht89 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I suggest everyone goes to chat (at the top of the forum).
SlyStone Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Just got the email--accepted as finalist for the Netherlands.
nescafe Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Finalist for Syria! Now the REAL waiting begins. Any other "retreads" here? This is my second time around (Finalist for Egypt last time, waited until end of June to get a rejection).
Jonhecht89 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Finalist for Finland too! What city? I'm up for Tampere.
Jonhecht89 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Helsinki. The person I wanted to work with at Helsinki is retired and I had a connection to a top person who happened to be at Tampere, so there I am. Why Helsinki?
stern Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I'm a finalist for an international MBA at IE in Madrid
crimsonengineer87 Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Any other finalists for Germany?

Ryan B: If you send me an e-mail address I could possibly put you in contact with some of the senior players in the anti-apartheid movement (especially in the ANC) Can't promise you Mandela but I do have a friend who works for him. Albanski Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Rachaelski: NOOOOO ! As I said to Albanski give it another shot next year! I think this is was my last year. The next time I will apply is when I am in a doctoral program... Its sad, but I am really relieved. I hated those months waiting for the final word. Now I can move on and properly prepare for the future. I wish you all luck! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me! Later!

So now a new application to obsess and anguish over for six months...but nonetheless..so excited and grateful! congrats to everyone else and I'm very sorry for those who didn't make it this time!
