Hello, everyone,

I am a PH.D applicant for 2011 fall. I am anxious after submitting my application. When will the university with early deadlines, like stanford, Duke, U.M... send phone interviews notification? January, February or March? I'm updating my mailbox everyday, a little nervous.

It depends on the school. Try looking under the "results" section above. Type in the name of your school and the program to see when other applicants have heard.

Does anyone know whether international students are interviewed?

Yes,they are. I am one and I had a telephonic interview today morning.

It depends on the school also I think.

Most schools will contact you about an interview, though some schools require that you set them up yourself. I'd scour your grad admissions websites for information about that, and then if you see nothing it couldn't hurt to shoot a quick e-mail and ask if you need to set one up.

I called to set one up with a faculty member at one of my schools, and he called me from his cell phone shortly after, while on vacation, and talked to me for about 45 minutes! I was super surprised.

How did it go????

Tough.Very Tough.:( The professor was very friendly but I had difficulty understanding the American accent. I was straining to understand what the question was and could not answer as confidently as I usually do.The main questions were about why I want to do the PhD and why they should select me.Lasted about 25 minutes.

The prof said that I will be hearing from them in March.Funding is a possibility if admitted.

maybe this goes without saying, but check your Spam folder. One of my invites (from UW-Madison) got caught in my gmail spam filter, since I had marked sooo many emails from random universities as spam.

I've been invited to interview at my school, but the details have yet to come... I hate waiting.

I am applying to Public Health programs and I got invited to three doctoral interviews so far:

BU - over the phone in early January

USF - in person Feb 10th

JHSPH - in person Feb 8th

UNC - still no word...

Has anyone else receive interview invitations for Johns Hopkins Public Health PhD program?

Hey, I applied there (JHSPH) but havent heard anything from them. If you don't mind sharing, when did you hear about the JHSPH interview? I dont want to be in false hope if they are done sending out invites for interviews. Thanks!

I've had one interview at UIC so far, and I have another interview at WashU next week. Has anyone heard from JHU or Northwestern neuroscience yet? I wish this was over already; I'm so stressed all the time!

Hi, thanks for replying! I applied to the Dept of International Health. No word yet...

Good luck with the interview!

Garibaldi,

I heard from JHSPH (Population, Family, and Reproductive Health Dept) on Jan 19th I believe. What department did you apply to? I think they all have different timelines... good luck!

I applied to the doctoral program in Health, Behavior, and Society at Hopkins and have not heard anything yet either. Good luck with the wait! (and good luck with the interview!)

My friend applied for that department and was admitted to the PhD about two weeks ago. Best of luck.

I received a phone call from my POI at Hopkins (HBS) and was admitted into the program--she mentioned that the program director was out of town and that letters would be coming out later. My application status still says "submitted." I don't think any of the other Hopkins applicants on this thread applied to HBS, but I thought I'd share that "no news" yet doesn't mean bad news! :D (Also, I didn't interview. Each department within Bloomberg has it's own process and committee--so not interviewing isn't an indication of a rejection. Phew!) Good luck!!

Hey XOwlfan,

So I heard from Hopkins last week and have got admission! yay! :) But funding only kicks in from year 3 onwards.... so thats a bummer. Anyhow, thought I'd let you know how things went! :)
