Eli- Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 There. I feel better. Thank you for listening. If anyone else needs to unleash some caps-locked anguish, this might be the place.

FML!!!!!!!!! I can't complain too much, I have an interview at another great place but so far none in my own freaking country!!!! AAAAACCCKKK!!!!

transcendental Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Oh man, I love this thread, and this whole board. I haven't heard anything from any programs and I'm going insane.
cquin Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Just received my first rejection. WHY, CUNY, WHY??!??! I listened to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaV6eDvgiG4 and read my rejection e-mail out loud. Helped me laugh at myself a bit. I'm trying so hard to remain lighthearted...
lyonessrampant Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Sorry to hear that cquin! Best of luck on your other apps!

hopefulwoolfian Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I haven't heard from anywhere yet... but I don't want to scream so much as whimper in fear that I won't make it. I know it's early for that, which is why I keep ranting here so that I don't completely drive my friends, parents, and boyfriend insane!
KRC Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Not just CUNY: is the only way to respond to "rejecting university 'x'" bottles 1
fall-11 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 If anyone else needs to unleash some caps-locked anguish, this might be the place. Ow, ow, ow, the Wisconsin rejection really hurts Thought I had a good fit, and really wanted to work with Lynn Keller. I hope it's okay to use this thread to vent our pain & anguish. tinapickles 1
wild_rose Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Thank you for this. This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while. I have an awful, morale-destroying job and waiting for graduate schools to get back to me is making everything worse. GAH. There. I feel better. Thank you for listening. If anyone else needs to unleash some caps-locked anguish, this might be the place.
courtniep Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 we can do this... ........ is it too early to start drinking? Langoustine 1
bfat Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 is it too early to start drinking? If it ends in "o'clock," it's a good time to start drinking.
Eli- Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 If it ends in "o'clock," it's a good time to start drinking. "Start drinking" implies an earlier "stopped drinking"... FAIL. This is awesome.
cquin Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 is it too early to start drinking? NOPE! Definitely not. At least I don't get rejection letters from Jack Daniel's. weatherwax 1

YES, ASSHOLE, I TURNED THE OVEN ON ESPECIALLY FOR YOU. but the cooking was to distract me from my emails... which is all related. ARGH! shared living SUCKS.
newms Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 This thread is definitely cathartic. I feel a lot better after reading some of these suggestions. I think I might get more acquainted with Messrs Daniels, Adams and Cuervo - I hear they're good company.
fall-11 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Damn, it's the weekend again -- now we (those who don't have an acceptance yet) have to wait out a whole Saturday, then a whole Sunday, before starting the vigil again on Monday morning.

I know, right? It's like the only time in the history of the world where I've got a case of the Saturdays. woolfie 1

Bahaha, I cannot tell you how disappointed I am when I check my email and then realize--curses!--it's Saturday.
Tybalt Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Bahaha, I cannot tell you how disappointed I am when I check my email and then realize--curses!--it's Saturday. That's what I thought last weekend, when I got two of my officially unofficial rejections (ie- they sent out acceptances, and I did not get one). I now fear the weekends as much as the week. I'm officially at that point that I almost just want to get the official rejections in hand and start on apps for next year. I still have some hope for some of the schools on my list (Florida and Rochester were particularly good fits), but I just keep seeing things about my app that I would have done differently--starting with the "too narrative" tone of my SoP. againstourfaces 1

I know how you feel, Tybalt. I'm in the same boat and just really want it all to be over so I can assess where I stand. Waiting is hard because you always hold out hope...:'(
