Looks like someone else got a phone acceptance a moment ago. The comics and visual rhetoric track.

I wonder if all the calls will go out today, or if they will keep calling over the weekend. Does anyone know what size cohort UF usually takes?

I think I remember something on the results board about people being contacted over the weekend...but I can't remember if it was about acceptances or not. Damnit. Meh.

Could we all agree, at least, that UF does not make all their acceptances in one day, and that they will continue to make acceptances in the future? (That is, do those of us who have not received a phone call agree that we have not been implicitly rejected?)

Posted

Definitely not an implicit rejection. I feel sure that they have many more offers to make, considering how many days they've stretched their acceptances over in the past. I bet they won't be done until mid - late next week.

I like that!

I'm sure admits will be hearing from them through AT LEAST March 6th. My friend got her rejection letter March 13th last year, but my friend who got in got called the day before our spring break (March 5th). If we assume admits were called through March 6th, it leaves ample time to have those rejection letters sent out by then.

I was on the waitlist last year and put my life on hold until April 14th---the last decision came in then. It was stressful, to say the least.

I hope to all things good and righteous I'm in this year.

Even more time for us to bite our finger nails, eh? ;)

I suppose the price of hope is constant anxiety.

So true! I'm waiting on a ton of schools, and I decided last week that hope > depressed despair, even if it makes me jittery and nervous for a few more weeks. Better than being a total downer all of the time!

I keep watching your signature to see if you have heard back from anywhere else!

I got so excited at work today because my phone started ringing from an unknown weird number - I thought it was a school. No. It was our benefits division calling to verify some information. Heart sunk.

I'm a little bit lamer. I checked the phone numbers on the UF website, and have been hoping for a call from a 352 area code. I don't know if I can stand this "trickle in" method of notifying that both Florida and Rochester seem to be doing. At this rate, I won't accomplish ANYTHING with my thesis this weekend!

Posted

UF and UT are both notifying very, very slowly. I'm just going to assume that I won't hear anything at the weekend, and resume repetitive email-checking and GradCafe-refreshing on Monday.

Good new: it isn't over. Bad news: the wait continues. I'm going to try not to obsess over my email this weekend and constant gradcafe refreshing - crank out the last chapter of my thesis. Then go back and start editing - you know, the fun stuff. I may need some wine in my life this weekend.

I got a call a couple of weeks back that read as being from "Florida." I went bananas before picking up the phone.... It was a bookie based out of Florida (I did--it's true--place an online bet several years ago on some game and they still call me from time to time). I feel your pain!

I actually went to UF for a year of undergrad, so I've always known that 352 area code. I'll be watching for it like a hawk this coming week . . .

BAHAHAHA!!! I bet you answered the phone sounding all professional too...classic. Thanks for the laugh. It's pretty funny to think of someone answering the phone thinking it is DGS and it is a bookie - dun dun dunnnn. Let's hope the next time the number shows up it isn't the bookie calling back!

Lols. I got a call today that came up as "Salt Lake City, UT," and totally reamed the poor, flustered woman at the other end of the line when I found she was merely a telemarketer.

We've got like, what, two more weeks of this crap?

Chins up, people, chins up!

I actually had a very vivid dream that I was called this morning. I immediately sat up in bed and said, "Hello? Yes this is he." in a very loud and panicked voice. There was no phone call (my phone was across the room), but I did scare the hell out of my poor dog.

I'm guessing that we won't be hearing anything this weekend? It would be strange to have a totally quiet Saturday and then go back to calling on a Sunday, wouldn't it? (sorry for the increased neuroses--UMD is still my top choice, but the more I think over the benefits of Florida, the more UF pulls even with, if not pulls ahead of, Rochester).

Welcome to Monday, yet another day of staring at your phone, checking your email, and checking this website. ALL WILL BE REVEALED...eventually.

I'm surprised there aren't more results posted. Tomorrow's March 1st... is the adcom simply bogged down in fighting over particular applicants of interest, or are they having more funding issues? Or are admitted students not aware of TGC? Sigh.

Also, am I the only one torturing myself by looking over Fall 2011 courses at institutions of interest? Are any of you lusting over specific courses offered anywhere?

No. I am too.

Definitely not just you. I'm in a bind. I REALLY want to take the dedicated Lacan course at UF, but I'm also mentally signed up for the Disability in early modern lit course at Maryland. That would be a lot of $$ in airfare, I would think!
