JDS2424 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Does Vandy interview for every subfield? I believe that they do. I was at Vandy last week for interviews in my area and there were top candidates in each area brought to campus. Cheers to "Tollelege!" I also received my acceptance and fellowship notice from BC yesterday. Any chance you'll be at ND too in a few weeks?
onoma Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Any news on Emory or Baylor? I know Emory had some interviews last weekend, but haven't seen any results.
Lux Lex Pax Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I've heard that Emory makes decisions pretty quickly after recruitment weekend. Based on previous years, they should be making final decisions either this week or next.
Brooke Brassard Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I know they had interviews for NT, which three were invited. They are still waiting, as of yesterday. I applied to the Historical Studies subfield.
Agora Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I happen to know that Vanderbilt interviewed their two finalists for Historical Studies. I'm not sure when they are going to let candidates know.
tenorcervantes Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I applied to Theological Studies at Vanderbilt. I'm wondering if I should just cross them off my list now if they already did their interviews. binimya 1
smadak Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Interviews at both Emory and Vanderbilt? I have heard no word from either... should I go ahead and get sad? *laughs nervously* Any word from Drew? Boston U?
The Pierre Menard Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Any news on Emory or Baylor? I know Emory had some interviews last weekend, but haven't seen any results. This coming weekend is preview weekend at Baylor. I hear they make offers shortly after that.
Hanover Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Interviews at both Emory and Vanderbilt? I have heard no word from either... should I go ahead and get sad? *laughs nervously* Any word from Drew? Boston U? Sound like everybody else is getting as nervous as I am. I'd love to know if anybody has heard anything about UVA as well? Since they had such an early submission deadline, I was hoping that they would be on the earlier side for sending out decisions.
Lux Lex Pax Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) I'm nervous, too. But we'll all be hearing from them soon enough. According to the results page, most schools roll out their decisions by around the third week of February. Although there's been movement among Duke, Emory, Notre Dame, BC, Vandy, et al., I think the real action isn't going to happen until Yale, Harvard, Princeton, and U.Chicago begin notifying their top choices because then we'll start seeing movement on the wait lists for these other schools as the top tier students begin to make their decisions. At least, that's my hope because I'm currently stuck on a wait list. Edited February 8, 2012 by Lux Lex Pax Lux Lex Pax and Hanover 2
smadak Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Is there a results page I am not aware of? Everyone keeps mentioning it...
LateAntique Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Look up at the top and you will see "Results Survey."
Origenist Heretic Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I think the real action isn't going to happen until Yale, Harvard, Princeton, and U.Chicago begin notifying their top choices . . . . I think your right, but U. Chicago tends to notify on the later side of things, pretty close to March 1 and as late as March 7. The other three will probably contact top choices in a week or two.
smadak Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Obviously I am new to this site, so I didn't see the results link. Thanks! Now, is there a place on the site appropriate to go whine in?
Majlin Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 If you have been rejected from a school, it is helpful to everyone else if you list it - if comfortable with that of course.
smadak Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 No rejections yet. Interview for Boston University School of Theology via Skype. Though, it's a slightly different PhD program that probably not many here are applying to since it is housed in a seminary. (Still a PhD, though.)

Lux Lex Pax Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Duke and Harvard (Religious Studies) have announced... Did all subfields at Harvard announce?
The Pierre Menard Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 No rejections yet. As was already mentioned above: http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2012/jan/11/grad-school-divided-over-interviews/ Yale Graduate Program of Religious Studies is required this year to perform an interview before offering admission to a doctoral student. Interestingly, Dale Martin, the director of the Religious Studies program, goes on the record in the above piece about the Yale GSAS requiring interviews this year. The Religious Studies AdCom meets on Feb. 20 to confer with one another about admission.
Majlin Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Duke and Harvard (Religious Studies) have announced... Where? How did you find this out?
tenorcervantes Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) I know that Harvard has not officially announced anything yet. All official notifications (admits and rejects) are announced at the same time. Edited February 8, 2012 by tenorcervantes TheHymenAnnihilator and lowellst 1 1
Majlin Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) I know that was the case with Duke who sent out official rejections (I got one), but the poster made it seem more official than a POI sending an email as was reported on the results page. Edited February 8, 2012 by Majlin
emilolologist Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 UChicago NELC has announced. Thought it might be good to post that here in case there's anyone on the thread applying for Hebrew Bible, NW Semitics, etc. through that department.
11Q13 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I have class with people on the Harvard Adcom, I feel like asking to be put out of my misery already. uggg
