Mine still says "In Review". Hoping that's not a bad sign..

Congrats.

An Ohio State Clinical acceptance is pretty huge.

Thanks! I'm going to withdraw from all my other interviews now. As for Tauren's not being posted yet, they may have rushed mine because I asked a grad student today if she knew when during the week I would find out so that I could cancel my other trips. I had the audacity to ask because I was essentially told during the interview weekend that I was my POI's top choice. So it could just mean that your application decision will be posted later this week.

Can the Florida State poster send me your POI? I haven't heard from them yet.

Me too!

The Social Psychology FSU post was from me. According to the email, they only invite 1-2 people for each faculty member (ah! craziness!) and the recruitment weekend is Feb 23 - 26. PM me if you want to know the POI.

Just a tiny reminder for those who are applying for Tufts Psychology - check your contact details on your online application manage system. I just discovered today that my email address part was left blank for some reason - I didnt think to check it before because I think the graduate school would automatically have my record. Only after I manually add my email on the system, I received the notification email from the grad school that che psyra psyra previously mentioned.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem too! I checked my contact details after seeing results from the survey and discovered that my email address part was blank. Even though I changed my email address this morning, I did not receive any notification........

Per the secretary from CU Boulder, they are meeting this week to make decisions about interviews. I don't know if that applies just to social, or the whole program, but if you applied there and haven't heard, there is still hope! I emailed some other program administrators, too, to try and reassure myself that all the decisions have not already been made.

Also applied to Social Psych program at FSU. Guess I'm getting rejected. Not too upset about it.

Thank you! That eases my mind a lot!

Hey Guys,

Those who posted about the interviews and acceptence from Kentucky, (Experimental program) what field specifically did you apply to?

Thanks :)

So, ah... I applied to 10 different programs, and I've yet to hear a single thing back from any of them. :X Am I among the dwindling few still adrift in the cruel seas of applicant limbo, or is my perception being skewed by all the enthusiastic posts about invites and interviews around here?

As bad as it sounds, I'd almost rather be back in a combat zone: at least the stress there was somewhat intermittent, and the potential catastrophes had a certain sense of finality about them. This, on the other hand, is a grueling trek through some sort of pitch black minefield in which you're constantly expecting something to detonate, but nothing ever does. Then you find yourself hoping that something -does- detonate, because the minefield seems to just go on and on and on and the prospect of going on indefinitely becomes more terrifying than the prospect of a mercifully quick demise.

Ahem... sorry, just a little cathartic hyperbole. Mostly.

Hey, don't worry, this application process sucks... I just tried to find the article but can't, but I read that a 2005 study (pre-recession) found that only 23% of applicants to psychology programs got at least one interview, and of course the actual "admit" rate was even lower. Clinical and I/O psych were between 5-10% if I remember, and all the other psych subfields were between 20-25%. And remember this is for ALL schools! Even "less-known" schools are extremely competitive, and as you can imagine the Ivies/Stanford have even crazier stats. Here's Duke's info, one of the few transparent programs out there...

In other words, don't get down on yourself, better luck next time (if you are planning on applying again, but good luck in general :) )

I, too, am still sitting in that mine field, wishing I would just frickin' step on one, already. I thought my application would be quite competitive, especially with my hugely relevant work experience w/ famous professors, and the fact that I'd emailed all my POIs and received at leeaaast encouraging responses from all, if not very positive.

My supervisor, a post-doc in affective neuroscience, said that she didn't hear back (with good news) from some schools until around valentines day, though, so I think (hope?) we still have a chance, even if we didn't make the first wave, of interview invites.

Likewise, thinking that I had an at least somewhat competitive application. Granted, I don't have much in the way of academic research experience, but I have a rather unusual background that involved .mil research stuffs, which I thought might at least catch their eye.

Most of the grad students I've spoken with are saying it's too early to shrug off hope completely, but.. then, none of them are in psych grad programs. I'm not sure they're overly familiar with the fact that neary -everybody- interviews in our field. Well, the field we hope to break into, anyhow. :>

I think the most reasonable thiing to hope for at this point, longshot or not, is that we've been automagically waitlisted somewhere without any explicit notification. That's what I'm going to tell myself until the mailman shows up with a rubber band-bound stack of rejection letters. Good luck to ya.

So I've been worried about this too. I thought my application was pretty competitive as well (and my advisor kept assuring me it was!) but still no good news. But yesterday I learned that not all of my programs have even made interview decisions yet, so it is too early. If it makes you feel better, email the program administrator and ask about what stage the applications are in. One of mine hasn't even gone to adcom yet and another is still in committee, so there is still hope.

I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure the people who have been accepted will hear next week.

Was just wondering if people did end up hearing anything from UMD or if there's any updated information/predictions on when people will hear?

Posted (edited)

Does anyone know the status of Columbia's interview invitations? Has anyone heard whether they've been sent out?

Sorry, nothing from them. Which is weird considering the info I've gathered from them. I don't think they've made final decisions yet.

Have not heard anything from them.

And by the way, it seems UMD finally made their decisions earlier today.
