mrhr0bin Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Hey Guishediaz, Congrats for the positive decisions. When did you hear back from them? And when did you submit your applications? I have applied to UIUC, VTech and GaTech too; but haven't heard anything back yet.

guishediaz Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 Hey Guishediaz, Congrats for the positive decisions. When did you hear back from them? And when did you submit your applications? I have applied to UIUC, VTech and GaTech too; but haven't heard anything back yet. Well I applied for Spring to UIUC. GaTech, Virginia Tech and even Austin Texas, but had to defer because was granted with the Fulbright Scholarship. I haven't heard back from any univ rather than VT. I received the VT letter on December 27th, 2011 and I guess it was that fast because I was laready admitted for the previous term. On the other hand, GaTech usually give sthe decision by the end of March and UIUC anytime since the very beginning of March and March 25th (*approx.). Good luck Man!
mrhr0bin Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 So are you heading to Virginia Tech? As you are awarded with a Fullbright Scholarship....You will not probably need any departmental funding like TA/RA/Fellowship...right? So which professor are you going to work with?
haibkdn Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) I have no info about universities I applied except UW Madison The CEE recommend me to graduate school. Still, they told that fund will be notified later. "The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is pleased to inform you that we have recommended to the Graduate School that you be admitted to the CEE graduate program for Fall 2012. You will be notified separately if you have been selected to receive any type of financial support." I get a fellowship of VEF (in Vietnam) which supports me 54,000 and the university must support the supplemental financial aid. What do u think about my situation? Edited January 28, 2012 by haibkdn

guishediaz Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 So are you heading to Virginia Tech? As you are awarded with a Fullbright Scholarship....You will not probably need any departmental funding like TA/RA/Fellowship...right? So which professor are you going to work with? I am not supposed to need any of them. However, they would be more than welcomed. I am interested in working on Earthquake Engineering with Dr. Eatherthon or Dr. Charney if I finally decide to enroll VT.
guishediaz Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 amazing. I think all universities are very pleased to offer u an admission Hopefully! I want to go to UCB! It is my top 1... but we{ll see what happens in the meanwhile...

mrhr0bin Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I am not supposed to need any of them. However, they would be more than welcomed. I am interested in working on Earthquake Engineering with Dr. Eatherthon or Dr. Charney if I finally decide to enroll VT. That's great. I got a strong response from Dr. Eatherton. That is the reason I applied to VTech. I talked to him couple of days back. He said admission is not going to be a concern for me and he is supporting my application for funding consideration. So if you and me both head to VTech, we might end up working in the same group.

mrhr0bin Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I have seen someone posted about acceptances from UIUC and VTech Civil Engineering Department. I am not sure whether they are structures or not. But have anyone of you heard back from any of these two schools?
