grover3000 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Where are y'all applying to?. I just finished my UT-Austin app and I'm also going to apply to UCLA, Washington, and UBC. I'm interested in social justice aspects of public librarianship. Cheers! grover3000 1
annieca Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Finished all but one application (Aberystwyth University in the U.K.) but it's a M.S.Econ in Archives Administration so I'm not sure if that counts. Anyhoo... applied to South Carolina, Maryland, Indiana, IUPUI for their Library Science programs, dual with Public History. I'm focused on archives and somewhat on digitization. Cheers!
jordtas7 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I have applied to the University of Pittsburgh, Emporia State University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and UNC-Chapel Hill. I turned in all my applications in October and am now just waiting to hear back. I did get an acceptance to UW-Milwaukee recently but I don't expect to hear from the others for a while. I have a legal degree and am interested in academic legal librarianship.
sfh09 Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I'm applying to the University of Michigan, University of Pittsburgh, and Wayne State University (I'm from the SE Michigan area). I'm interested in either school library media or children's public library services.
MissMoneyJenny Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I'm applying to the University of Toronto for the Fall 2013, as well as Brunel for Evolutionary Psychology (completely unrelated). We'll see how that goes, I may expand my applications to UBC and Western for the winter semester.
RelaxButterfly Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 When I do apply, I'm probably only applying to U of Toronto. I have heard amazing things about UBC in general though; their combined archives/library science program sounds really cool. Are any of you applying to that? I've also heard great things about Western's program from an academic librarian at my undergraduate school. MissMoneyJenny, have you done your Toronto application yet? I'm swamped in final essays at the moment and haven't gotten a chance to glance at it yet; does it seem like it will take a long time to complete?

I have looked at the application but I have only filled out the personal information portion, as I too as swamped with final projects. I'll be working on it next week. I how big the application is really depends on how much information you need to put into it. I have only been to one university and have held the same job throughout my university career so I don't have much to fill out. If you've done more than obviously you have more to add.
Sir Frankie Crisp Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) I put all my eggs in one basket- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I really wanted to attend an on campus program and I am living in Urbana while my significant other works on his Literature PhD. If I am not accepted, I will apply to distance education/online programs for next year- probably Maryland and South Carolina (my alma mater). Edited December 14, 2012 by Sir Frankie Crisp
crackerjacktiming Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I recently submitted applications to Indiana and my local state program as a financial back-up.

I also want to attend an on campus program. If I got into the UW Online program instead of residential, I probably wouldn't accept it even though it would mean I could stay in Seattle.
eccentricafterglow Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 I've applied to UT-Austin and UCLA so far. I'm currently working on the essays for Simmons College and University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Seems like we're applying for all the same schools (mostly) - good luck to you all!
whitepony16 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I applied to Simmons College in Boston, Indiana, UW-Madison, and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for children's and youth services focuses. I turned in all of my applications in early December, and now I'm just waiting to hear back! *biting nails nervously*
Grizbert Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Applied to UT-Austin only (already live in Austin), Archives and Preservation. I'm particularly interested in medieval English manuscripts, the history of the book, bibliography, and textual studies. Haven't heard anything yet.
grover3000 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Well I'm not a masochist so I'm definitely not looking forward to the all of the waiting for decisions.

annieca Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 @crackerjacktiming - Nope. It was snail mail. The letter was dated January 2nd. Actually, on Indiana's website I have absolutely no clue how it shows I'm accepted. Weird.
karent Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Right now, I'm very much regretting not applying to any proper library schools (I applied for a dual degree in Slavic Studies and Library Science but otherwise stuck with straight Slavic MAs; my ultimate goal is being a Slavic specialist librarian). I'm very nervous about my chances with these schools. I still have time to apply to Rutgers and Syracuse, but I wonder if any of you can recommend any other schools that have application due dates of February/March/April. Simmons is also a possibility, but I understand it's terribly expensive. I'd love your advice. All best, Karen
cefran Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 University of Washington has a deadline of February 1st, but their priority deadline is today for scholarships. However, you do not have to submit a completed application today. What I mean by that is, your recommendations don't have to be in by today. It might be kind of a scramble though :\
Nikki1988 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 So I applied to UCLA, UNC and am currently in the process of applying to Maryland. That 500 word essay is killing me. I had a solid, well written 900 word essay that I have to condense. Eek! I thought I would lay it all out there for the world to see: My GRE scores are low: 149/146 and a 3 in the essay portion. My GPA averages 3.5. (I transferred from community college to one of the worlds leading research institutions ) However, I do have some experience in the field from which I gained working, interning and researching in Greece. I also have excellent recommendations. Wish me luck everyone! I am really going to need it.
