JSmiles Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hey! Has anyone else's Dalhousie Application status been changed to decision made, yet has not received notification of the decision?
Minnie7 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hey! Has anyone else's Dalhousie Application status been changed to decision made, yet has not received notification of the decision? Hey JSmiles, Where do you find this application status? were we supposed to me emailed this information??
masumasuda Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 If you log into the dalhousie admissions website and click your submitted application under processed applications, you should see a table called application data where you'll see your application status. Mine says Decision Made, with Written Notification to Follow, which I assume means declined, haha.

I think I found the website you were talking about but when I went there, it said my application was still in progress and that I was missing information. But I've checked with the office and they said they received everything. So I can't see the table you're talking about because of this. Still, I am very grateful for you telling me this! I'll email admissons t check, though I have a feel I did not get in! I'm sure you did though!
slpplease Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I got off the waitlist at U of A !!!!!!!! So excited!!!!! Congrats to everyone who go accepted and waitlisted today. There is still time for acceptances so don't feel discouraged. Those of you rejected I understand how it feels. This was my second year applying, I was rejected last year. Don't give up if this is what you want to do keep trying!!!

For those of you still waiting (myself included), don't lose hope - your perseverance will pay off, and I believe that's what will make you an excellent clinician one day.

kelseymg Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I was also accepted at U of T today but will be declining the offer, which means one more spot for someone on the wait list!
SLP333 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Does anyone know if there is a facebook group started for U of A yet? Â

Just wondering, what made you pick Alberta? I have the same option and I am almost positive that I will be attending U of T, so it would be interesting to hear the opposite point of view.

LINGmb Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Hey, does anyone know if a facebook group has been made for Western?
speechful11 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Congrats to everyone and best of luck! Â I was also accepted to both U of T (my first choice) and Western. I'm a first-time applicant. Looking forward to meeting some of you there! Â (Yay!) Edited April 2, 2015 by speechful11
let'sgo Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I contacted U of T SLP this afternoon to ask this question and was told that emails were sent out this morning only to applicants who were accepted or wait listed and that rejections were sent out by regular mail today. Â If you haven't heard from UoT, you could have been waitlisted or rejected. I sent an email yesterday asking about my status, and Mabel replied today letting me know that I was waitlisted. So it looks like only acceptances were sent by email (not waitlists or rejections). Â Also, anyone have any idea how long the waitlist is at UoT?
slphopeful22 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Hey everyone ! This is my first time posting however I've been checking this forum for a while now. Just to clarify for people who have applied to Dal, they have already sent out all their acceptances via email. If you have not heard from them by now, you will be mailed a letter which is either a rejection or it states you are waitlisted. I called Crystal yesterday who confirmed this with me. Goodluck and congrats to everyone who has been accepted

We expect that all applicants will have received their letters by April 17th. If you still haven't gotten anything by then please let me know.  Although, since some people have already been waitlisted, I'm assuming its a rejection. Why couldn't they just tell us by email guys?  Gah, I hate waiting. Â

I have the same option and I am almost positive that I will be attending U of T, so it would be interesting to hear the opposite point of view. Hey Kats, congrats! I've heard that students coming out of the U of A program are some of the most prepared to work in the field. Apparently U of T is a more theory based program while the U of A is more hands on, I'm not sure of the accuracy of that though. I've also heard the U of T may be better for people who hope to work with adults and I am more interested in pursuing a career working with children. At first I was really interested in the U of T program because it is unique in that you get to participate in related internships right after taking the corresponding classes, but then I learned that it is not unusual for students to be placed in locations over an hour outside the city. I can see this causing issues with transportation and housing and it is really important for me to feel like I have a place I can call home for the time I am away for school. Edmonton is also closer to home (Winnipeg) and I have family who lives in the city. Good luck with making your decision, either way you'll be attending a great school! kats 1
brody43 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Nins, I am sorry if my post seemed patronizing it wasn't meant to be at all. If I was in your position I would feel discouraged too. I really don't understand why there are so few schools for SLP in Canada when the need is so great. It seems ridiculous that so many people who would be amazing SLP's never get the chance due to a lack of seats. I really hope that you get into Western or Toronto, I have heard both are awesome programs. In the next few weeks there should be quite a bit of movement in the waitlist as people decide which program they want. I will have my fingers crossed for you.

Brody, do not worry - you said nothing wrong. I am just a little frustrated and disappointed because this is my second year applying and I had an overall good package. I worked really hard and made many sacrifices to make my application competitive. For a whole year and a half, I literally did nothing else other than study, work and volunteer. Anyways, I know there is still a good chance for me, and I do appreciate what you wrote in both posts. To those who got in, congratulations, you should be very proud of yourselves. To those on the waitlist, I hope we all get good news in the end, and to those who didn't get in, don't give up... I know I am not. DeafAudi 1

I thought I met most of the criteria, but, for example, they told me that they looked more at cumulative rather than subGPA. They also told me that the problem is always the number of spots vs. the number of very qualified applicants. They had at least 300 qualified individuals and many excellent students do not make it, but you do seem to be at the top of the waiting list so I would not worry too much. Â Â Just out of curiosity speechful, who did you contact to get feedback from McGill? I didn't think that the faculty offered any feedback to applicants, but it's great that they do!
Speechie6 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I was wondering if any UBC applicants can give me any info about AUDI 402 and 403 (format of class, difficulty, assignments and exams). Did you have the both done prior to applying? Any info would be helpful

I am not sure who answered my email but they told me they cannot look at each person's application, they just gave me general feedback, like I said, but it was detailed on what their selection process consisted of. But it was definitely not personalized, it was very general. Edited April 3, 2015 by speechful11
evken Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Officially a M.Sc.A. at McGill. Spots have opened up at UofT and Western .  Any other McGill-er's on here?
