theoryoftheories Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Did anyone else get the "Choosing the Right Graduate Program" e-mail from Chicago? That was fun. Also not an acceptance letter. Pennywise, 010010110101001101010111 and Starbuck2015 3
Pennywise Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Did anyone else get the "Choosing the Right Graduate Program" e-mail from Chicago? That was fun. Also not an acceptance letter.Yeah it didn't even include an application fee waiver for one of their cash cow Masters programs. Thanks for that junk mail, UC!
uselesstheory Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Did anyone else get the "Choosing the Right Graduate Program" e-mail from Chicago? That was fun. Also not an acceptance letter. Â I opened it thinking it would be my rejection letter!
sociologygrad Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I got an e-mail from the Dean of the Graduate Division late last Friday (around midnight PST) congratulating me on my acceptance and a link to the application site to accept/decline their offer..  I have yet to hear anything directly from the department, though. CONGRATS! I haven't heared anything yet from them, and my app still says "Under Review," so, I was just wondering.Â
CeeB Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 CONGRATS! I haven't heared anything yet from them, and my app still says "Under Review," so, I was just wondering.  Thanks!! I'll be sure to post here if/when I get more information.  I think someone here called and they said they were hoping to send out notifications this week, so hopefully you hear back (with an acceptance!) soon!

sociology1 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Hey everyone, I hope everyone is hanging in there. I was recently wait listed at the University of Cincinnati. If you were accepted there but aren't planning on attending please let them know soon. I am really hoping to get in. Edited February 10, 2015 by sociology1
WhiskerPatrol Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Anyone who got into Duke or University of Washington going to the recruitment weekends? Â I plan on going to the University of Washington one. So excited. Seattle is awesome, and the department has great faculty.
angelaxu Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I just called - they said if you haven't heard, it's a rejection. Wondering if that refers to international applicants too...?
theoryoftheories Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Spoke with Columbia admin this morning (she was very nice). Not all PhD decisions have been made and the MA decisions have at least a few more weeks.Â
thewildchild Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 ^ I spoke with Shamus Khan (the chair), and he said admissions HAD been finalized? :S

Not all PhD decisions have been made and the MA decisions have at least a few more weeks.   ^ I spoke with Shamus Khan (the chair), and he said admissions HAD been finalized? :S Oh this is seriously driving me crazy...I don't think they usually call international students though.and looks like they haven't sent out emails yet. just don't have the courage to contact the department..
thewildchild Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 That michigan acceptance though... letstalkshop 1

Yeah, it doesn't seem like the emails were sent, since there are only 3 acceptances by phone in the results. I am trying to call them for while, but there is no answer.
Owenofhawaii Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Seems like Michigan set out a few notifications. Anyone wants to claim one?
MaxWeberHasAPosse Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Waitlisted for Michigan... is this good? Coindinista 1
furryewok Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Waitlisted for Michigan... is this good? Congrats! Anything's better than a rejection right?!
Count Chocula Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Does anyone know if Michigan Soc and Public Policy decisions are released on a different timeline?
MaxWeberHasAPosse Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Congrats! Anything's better than a rejection right?! Absolutely! Anybody have insight into what this wait list process looks like?
MBDT Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Does anyone know if Michigan Soc and Public Policy decisions are released on a different timeline? Â I just asked this question. I was told that Soc and Public Policy are both trying to get their e-mails sent by the end of the day.
Hopeful Applicant Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 People accepted to Michigan and NYU did you guys hear just through email? (Congrats by the way)
TheLuckyOne Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I just asked this question. I was told that Soc and Public Policy are both trying to get their e-mails sent by the end of the day. Does that mean they are not done with notifying their admitted students yet?
heyitsthatguy Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Absolutely! Anybody have insight into what this wait list process looks like? Â I was waitlisted for Michigan for the Fall 2013 admissions season. The director hinted at the fact that I was at the top of the list, and they would notify me as soon as something changed. It ended up that every single person offered admission took it. I will say that this is probably rare. Most people accepted to Michigan will get into other top programs and have to make a choice. The waitlist process is just waiting. Lots and lots of waiting. Generally you won't hear anything until late March, unless someone is certain they won't be attending early on. Just sit tight, try to stay positive and let them contact you. It is also in their best interested to get a hold of waitlisters as quickly as possible. Good luck!
MaxWeberHasAPosse Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Accepted to UCSD!! What a day! breaks0, jalison and Coindinista 3
