So I applied for the fall 2015 cycle and didn't receive any acceptances :(

I was wondering if anyone was in the same boat and planning on applying for spring admission??

Its really tough putting your all in your applications and receiving nothing but rejections.

If anyone could give their input on things you could do to strengthen your app for their next cycle, that would be amazing! I've barely started researching schools that offer spring admission, and so far have

Appalachian State

College of St. Rose

Baylor University

Eastern Michigan University

Grand Valley State

University of Central Florida

University of Nebraska-Omaha

University of Northern Iowa

University of Texas at Dallas

If anyone could help add to that list, I would greatly appreciate it!

Also , you could email the program directors at thee universities and ask them what you could do to strengthen your application ! Re appearing for gre , shadowing a SLP , volunteering is what I would do. But mostly talking to the professors helps a lot I would strongly suggest that

There are other groups on the forum who talk about less competitive programs and have discussed what to do strengthen the app , you could read that as well

All the best :) I know it's a pain to do it all again but there are many people in the same boat ! Don't give up

I still have to hear from more schools, but it's not looking good. Valdosta also has spring admissions! I'm also going to apply to distance/online programs.

Does anyone have any idea on how competitive spring admission programs are? I feel like they would accept an even smaller amount of people making it more competitive but I'm not sure on how many people apply for it anyway.

Hi! I may be in the same boat. I still have four schools to hear from about waitlist, but I am definetly in the same position. Since you only applied to Texas schools, I'm assuming you're from Texas like me. I know UT Pan American and Texas A&M Kingsville have spring admissions as well. Also, my professor told me that what I could do for UT Dallas is call them and ask them to put my application in their Spring cycle and if I could pay a fee. I personally think I would change my essay and recs a little though but you can ask about that possiblity! Also I know a little bit about UCF. It is the biggest program in the country apparently and so their spring cohort would probably take a lot of applicants! I almost went there for undergrad and loved the campus. And same with App State, so those are keepers. Hang in there you are not alone :)

I'm not giving up hope, but I have 2 more schools to hear from and it's not looking too good :(

When is a good time to start your spring 2016 applications? When is it appropriate to ask professors for more LOR?

@abSLP22, I admire you so much for applying to 25 (25!!!!!) schools! I applied to 11 and it was an unbelievable amount of work and money so I can't even imagine!

Yes it was so much work! Thought if I could just get into 1 it would be worth it, but looks like were moving onto Spring 2016 :( :(

I noticed that this forum isn't as active for spring, so maybe that's a sign that it's not as competitive.

Well I got my last rejection so I am moving ahead with Spring applications. It hit me really hard but tomorrow I am setting out to start getting ready to apply! I won't give up!!!

My GPA will bever be higher than it is now but I will work on improving my SOP!

Wishing everyone who is applying for spring the best of luck! :)

Is it a wise decision to apply for both spring and fall simultaneously? Let's say I get accepted at a spring school whose semester begins in jan/feb, yet I have already submitted apps for fall as well.

I have not yet thoroughly researched the exact start dates of spring semester programs, so please correct me if this is wrong.

UConn also has Spring admissions. Best of luck to all of you applying for the next round!  :)

I don't think UConn has spring admissions.

"The application deadline for the M.A. and Au.D. programs is February 1, 2015."

It looks like I will be reapplying and also taking the GRE for the fourth time.

This will be my final attempt to get into grad school for Spring/Fall 2016. If I do not get in this time around, I will have to find another career. I simply can't keep wasting time. I am an older applicant and I do have other dreams.

If anyone is still interested in testing their luck with one more school, I confirmed Jacksonville University is still accepting applications until May 15th for this Fall!! They still have spots! They have only recieved over 200 applications, average combined GRE scores 290, with an average writing of 3.5.  ASHA  says they accept students 2.44-3.75 GPA. They seem to be a newer program, next Accrediation Review is February 2018. Tuition is $47,080 without doing an optional semester. There seem to be a few graduate assistantships available in other departments but, can't find them on the website yet. Hope this helps! :)

I believe Hampton University offers fall and spring admissions--also when I looked into them last year it looked less competitive than other programs. CSUN and JMU distance programs also start in the spring.

Don't lose hope! I didn't get in the first year I applied either. I think getting my SLPA experience/ license (and subsequently a really strong reference from my SLP supervisor) is what got me in this time around. Good luck!
