Hk400 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 If anyone was waiting to hear back from Purdue, it looks like they're starting to send out emails notifying people. The email tells you to check for the decision in your portal. Good luck to everyone who applied there!

rzilby Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Has anyone gotten any e-mails from MGH? I heard all other decisions were supposed to be e-mailed today. It's the second week of March and the only letter I've received today is a credit card offer I'm dying to hear something by Tues or Wed, otherwise I find out everything while I'm abroad.

I started unsubscribing to a bunch of random companies sending me e-mail because I get an adrenaline rush every 30 minutes from an Uber or ebay e-mail rzilby and racoomelon 2

And ironically, after posting about not hearing back and then going for a walk, I came back to a waitlist e-mail for the school I thought I had the best shot with. So much for Syracuse. It came a lot earlier this year though. But it makes me wonder what else I could have done. Even in the interview, the woman told me they looked over everything I did to improve the app and were really impressed, and my ESL job helped. I'm going to e-mail and ask about it, but this is so disheartening. I thought I had the best shot at this school, so at this point I'm pretty sure I'll have a third year of applications to do, which makes me feel ill :(.

You still have a lot of schools to hear back from! Its only the beginning of March, stay optimistic! ENFPslp 1
Tish22 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Also - all the emails inviting to graduate open house are such a tease! I look at the subject and just zoom in on the words I want to see, and then immediately getting my hopes up!

I think it's safe to safe Queens is a no go, and I don't really expect an acceptance from MGH at this point, so it's 6/12 schools. Half of my schools either rejected me or have me waiting. I know there are still 6 to go, but I feel like the competition for NJ schools was insane last year, and a lot will probably take their undergrads. I'm just waiting for the rejection from Portland right now. I think once I hear it from my top choice, the rest won't feel quite as bad in comparison.I know after the initial disappointment wears off, I'll find a better way to view the situation, but right now things just don't feel so great

Especially seeing all the posts of peoples acceptances when you are still waiting. I currently go to queens college, and their program is one of the most competitive I've encountered. They only accept 16 students. I would not take this personally. Its a joke around here that they only take genius! Until we hear from more, its unfortunately a waiting game. Finding myself more and more anxious! Maybe one of those waitlists will turn into an acceptance!

rzilby Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Yup, got the rejection. At least I didn't have anything fun planned tonight. I'd rather be disappointed studying than disappointed while hanging out with friends.
hopefulspeechie16 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 WHAT DO THESE SCHOOLS WANT? You could literally be the president of the U.S. and still get rejected. rzilby, koalalover1, talkingcake and 2 others 5

I need to start looking up schools no one has heard of, because I swear I'm getting into a program next year, even if the campus is in the middle of a swamp. I just really don't want to do this process again :(.... I don't think I'm getting into the NJ schools, and given how much interest I saw here about Adelphi, I'm assuming the competition there beat me. Soooo yeah. Guess I'll be looking for full time work in the meanwhile.

Gingiestrong Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 "Greetings, Your application has been reviewed by the committee, and you are one of the top ranking candidates. Due to the highly competitive nature of this year’s applicant pool, the admissions committee would like you to complete a short video answering the following questions: Why are you interested in Jacksonville University? 2. What are the top two characteristics that you have that distinguish you from other applicants? Your video needs to be 2 minutes or less. Once you have recorded this, you should upload it to Youtube, but make the Privacy setting as “Unlisted”. Then you will copy and paste the URL into an email that you send to Brittany Copeland, Academic Advisor. The link will then be forwarded to the committee who will review the videos in order to make final decisions for the early admissions cycle. You must email your link to Brittany by Sunday March 13th , 6pm." Guys I'm freaking out. Did anyone else receive this email from Jacksonville University? This seems like a cool/unique way to go about making admissions decisions, but I have no idea how I should go about making this video. Like do I write myself a script and make it a super high-quality video, or just be laid back and do it through photobooth on my computer lol. Any advice would be appreciated!

I've never seen this kind of thing before. I know Kean does this in lieu of an essay, but I didn't see a video survey until now lol. I would say focus on looking comfortable in front of the camera, and knowing what you want to say and rehearsing that so it sounds natural and you know how much time it would probably take you to record, so you don't feel rushed. And smile a lot because appearing friendly and easy going definitely can't hurt. Best of luck! Gingiestrong 1

BamaBelle Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Just got my first rejection from TCU and I was initially a little more disappointed than I expected to be. But I am okay with it and not very surprised since the program is so small. I just feel so #blessed to have other options.

Go on YouTube and look up "Purdue speech pathology application" or something like that. The school asked people to record 1 min videos about ourselves... Some people went all out and were super into it (several angles, professional microphone, other people) and then others just sat in front of their Christmas tree and talked into their webcam haha. I went w the latter and I got in! So I don't think it matters too much as long as you aren't nervous and awkward. Gingiestrong 1
BamaBelle Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 When emailing program directors who aren't Doctors, would you address them by Ms. Whoever or by their first name? She's signed off all her emails with her first name.

RFutureSLP Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I was accepted to Baldwin Wallace University, Kent State University and Ohio University. Rejected from University of Akron and waiting to hear from Bowling Green University. I'm very stuck on the big decision. Good luck everyone
auruten Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 do decisions emails/correspondence happen at the same time for everyone or can it vary???

I always go by what they sign their name as, with exception to PhD's that I don't know very well or haven't given me permission to address them by their first name. So if she signed off with her first name, just use that.
BamaBelle Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Thanks @racoomelon and @slptobe92 Emailing people always freaks me out haha racoomelon 1
