  1. Most programs not on CSDCAS or looking at just the past 60 units, will most likely consider your transcripts very holistically. CSDCAS just sends the GPA total with all grades counted so schools can either look at the transcripts separately if they want or use the CSDCAS GPA. I wouldn't worry too much as long as your have good GRE scores and keep your post-bacc GPA up. I also wouldn't worry about them thinking that it's odd that you're switching careers so early. Having a TESOL background would actually make you quite unique so if you enjoy your post-bacc classes, I say go for it! Good luck!!
  2. As far as the 60 units go, try taking some easy filler classes if you can to add units which will make your GPA higher
  3. I applied to TCU and never got the vibe that they were overly religious. I went to a catholic high school and had a few friends go there and none of them were that into religion and seem to be doing just fine. When I spoke to Saint Mary's College, I was told that the whole chapel thing was really for undergrads and that graduate students aren't really that involved in campus ministry. I got the same vibe from Saint Louis University.
  4. I got off the waitlist at Saint Mary's on April 11. I think with so many people applying to a lot of schools, waitlists move around a lot!
  5. I got mine the next day! But since it's now April, more people might be accepting so it could take a little longer
  6. Congrats!! I know, right?! That's the scariest part for me....moving to a place where I know no one
  7. I just declined my offer to UoP. Hopefully this helps someone out here!!
  8. I just committed to UT Dallas today. I didn't want to keep people waiting on the wait lists at other schools until April 15th if I had no intention of going
  9. Just accepted my offer at UTD Hope to see you all this Fall!!
  10. @hopefulspeechie16 @CBG321 When I spoke to the department this weekend, I was told that we will take classes each semester. Typically students only take 2 classes their last semester. With that being said, I would email the department directly and ask if the schedules could be adjusted so you could go home. The woman I spoke to told me that there was one placement in Dallas that girls have requested before but its full work days Monday-Thursday so the department adjusts their schedules accordingly (they would need lots of advance notice to do this of course). So it MIGHT be possible. Again, I would contact the department directly and see what they say
  11. Personally, I think if you're reapplying to that program, then emailing to ask how to make yourself a stronger candidate is appropriate Good luck!!
  12. It's about $7500 a semester I think for in state (for 15 or more units). I'm not sure about summer though. They told me most only take 2 classes and clinical so it could be a little less.
  13. We got to see it this weekend when we visited but they do not post it. It's super confusing since there's only 6 core classes. Once you accept, you'll meet with an advisor (in person or via phone) and go over a plan for the next two years. You also meet with your academic advisor and clinical advisor (2 different people) each semester!
  14. Yes, you do both the praxis and have the option for your CCCs when attending a candidate school you have to fill out extra paper work for ASHA for your CCCs but I've heard it's not bad. Each state has a different way of licensing so you'd have to look up what the specific state entails but I know people relocate for grad school and then go back home a lot so it shouldn't be too bad wherever you are.
  15. Thanks for all the info! If I wind up there, I will for sure need roommates as well. I think we're going to check out the apartments at the Villages and some in Oak Lawn as well.
  16. That sounds amazing! I won't get to meet with Dr. Stillman when I visit next week because he has meetings and a collequium the day I go So you liked the feel of UT Dallas more than Mizzou? Does the large size of the program scare you? I'm a bit terrified of it lol Also, did you check out any apartments near by? My mom and I are trying to compose a list of apartments to look at when we go out. Thanks!
  17. I'm not sure what the pay in other states is like but the Cal State professors get paid less than what they could potentially make as a professional which takes any money incentives there might be to becoming professors. I don't believe people should do it for the money but many qualified SLPs won't pursue academia because it's four more years of school to only get less pay (especially if they've got families to support)
  18. ASHA has a mutual recognition agreement with Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and the UK. It allows people with masters degrees from those countries to have an easier time attaining certification in each country. So from what I've read, a degree in speech pathology from a non English speaking European country won't allow you to gain certification in America (it may however provide experience that graduate schools here would love). Its just something to think about when looking for an international perspective. I'm not sure what tuition is like in most of the countries in the agreement. http://www.asha.org/Certification/Mutual-Recognition-Agreement-FAQs--General-Information/
  19. I'm going to wait until after the open house to decide. I'm very conflicted as to which school I should attend Hopefully meeting other people who may be in the cohort will help!
  20. Thanks! Hopefully we'll hear early next week!!
  21. Still waiting on Saint Louis University, University of New Mexico, St. Mary's College, and Fresno State. Fresno State is my home university, and I know they don't send out decisions until late April so I'm not too concerned with hearing back from them lol
