Congratulations! We are excited to share this news with you. I'd like to hear whether you are interested in attending the University of Washington, discuss our program with you and field questions you might have. Please contact me, call or email is fine. Hope to hear from you soon. " I justgot this email from Uof Washington's 3d4m program. Im not sure what it means. Is this an interview invite? Or acceptance? Aaah- i have gained more grays hairs in the past 3 months, than ihave in the past 15 years! For a second i got reallly excited! Honestly i am grateful for the interviews, but its horribe for me. I am still waiting to hear from UT Austin. If i get in at UT Austin, im going to have to make a very touch decision...I was very impressed with UT Austin and I am really hoping for good news, but in the end I think it is going to come down to funding. But congratulations again and good luck for Temple! Keep me in the loop. Edited February 26, 2017 by Chrisel

I have an interview this week with Pratt for painting. Was curious to how the interview went, and what sort of questions were asked? Any tips would be appreciated. If I'm correct I was told they accept about 5-6 painters per year at national portfolio day. so fingers crossed there's still room for me! ? @Chriselthought I'd tag you in this as well! Firstly, congratulations on the interview! From my experience the interview was very friendly. They want to know about what inspires you and why graduate studies (and spesifically graduate studies at Pratt) is right for you at this stage of your life. You get the opportunity to ask questions, and they are very open and honest when answering. You shouldn't stress about it, they are very nice and just want to get to know you better. I am sure that you will do great.

I think its legal-ese because you're not a confirmed student until after that big decision day in April.

I was graduating in dec and had a heavy load with thesis and all, that i kept my choices limited. I think im experiencing the post-freak outs depression. I applied to only 4 schools. 2 of which i wasnt really into but my profs advised me to do so. Hm---- i almost want to wait another year and reeapply. But im afraid i wil lose more than gain. Yikes. Im feeling super strange. Congrats on yout accepotances. Have u made a choice yet?

I have an interview with RCA in 3 weeks (for MA Visual Comm) and I have no idea what to expect. Could you tell me a little bit about your experience? I'm extremely nervous .. Good luck with Goldsmiths!! Since each department conducts their own interviews, I'm sure yours will be different than mine (I interviewed in Contemporary Art Practice), however, all interviews can benefit from adequate preparation and self-care to calm your nerves. I found the thread about interviews to be really helpful, and I spent some time writing out answers to questions I knew would be important ie. talking in depth about my work, my influences/artists I love, concepts that inspire me, what I'm currently working on, why I choose this school/program/location. During my interview, we only talked about the work that was in my portfolio and just a quick note on what I am working on now. Also make sure to come in with some good and specific questions for your interviewer. Otherwise, just try not to let your nerves get the best of you! (I'm a hypocrite for this one of course) Also, ask if you can set up a tour of the facilities before your interview. I did this and it really helped to calm my nerves and make the place less intimidating. Good luck! We should meet for a coffee if you're there the 15th.
Causofit Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Sorry, one more question. If it weird to get accepted without an interview?

No, not yet- I interview at UCSD next weekend and I need a response from UCLA and USC, then I need to see funding from all of them- and theeen I can decide.

7edkim Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 45 minutes ago, Causofit said: Sorry, one more question. If it weird to get accepted without an interview? Not at all. I asked the same question to one of my grad school advisors and she said it is just the systematic difference. I got accepted to Syracuse and Penn State without interviews, and even with scholarships. Also, what I have read from last year's thread, schools like WashU St. Louis and UIC have been giving out offers without interviews.
Poodle-Doodle Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Been busy for the past day or so in Chicago; I missed yal! Did you miss me back? Interviewed at UPenn so far, no response. Interviewed at SAIC yesterday. Got my first Acceptance on Friday into UCLA . Dreaminghigh, MonkeyPants, sylviecerise and 2 others 5
dunton Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Had the first of my interviews yesterday, at Northwestern. I think it went well. So hard to know though. Anyone have a General time frame for notification after interview?
MonkeyPants Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 2 hours ago, Causofit said: Sorry, one more question. If it weird to get accepted without an interview? That really depends on the program. On my first round on MA applications in 2012, I was accepted without interviews to two UChicago programs (Divinity school and the Division of the Humanities) and Columbia. This round, I was accepted without interview to SAIC, and accepted after interview to SFAI. I was not invited to interview at Bard (rejection) and flat-out rejected from Maine. Some programs interview as a matter of course, others only interview if they see a strong candidate but aren't sure about how they'll fit in the program, or to break a tie between two attractive candidates. So short answer: no, it's not weird to get accepted without an interview.

Im feeling super strange. Congrats on yout accepotances. Have u made a choice yet? Going to grad school if you're not sure about the fit or the time you had to look into programs can end up being a really risky thing, and a huge waste of time for all parties involved. It can work out, but if you're coming straight out of undergrad I don't think it hurts to have some time out of school to clear your head and focus on what you really want, visit schools, make connections, see what environment you want to learn in. Post academia is a totally different world and one that very much helps you clarify what you want out of your grad studies - plus life experience always helps make your art better. But no, not weird to get accepted without interview - it's just dependent on the school. Sometimes the work speaks for itself enough. As someone who got an MA with a year between undergrad and grad school, my MA was too early and wasn't a great fit - and the few years following that is when I really found my direction - only now going for the MFA. Different for everyone, but I'm speaking from some experience. Edited February 26, 2017 by felixo altiplano and tugbamina_871 2

arte Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 @AKinLA haven't heard from them... last yeat they sent out interviews on Feb. 15th-ish. I applied to Stanford last year and got rejection on 2/25.... so I'm assuming rejection at this point... I've emailed them asking whether they have already sent out interview requests, but didn't get a response...
