How to deal with this anxiety?

@hopefulPhD2017 oh, that makes sense. Luckily the programs I applied to let me check that stuff online, and my apps served as my aid application too.

@GeorgeC07 again, that makes sense. I only applied to schools where I had spoken with faculty ahead of time, so I see why you would want to be in touch with them.

I was thinking that your intention was to contact them solely for information regarding how soon they would be scheduling things, and I was mistaken. Good luck to you both (and everyone else)!

I found this thread to help cope with my anxiety!  =)

I take more of a deterministic approach.  I applied to a different sub-field of study a couple years ago and was rejected by a lot of programs and turned down one offer.  It didn't seem like a good fit for me any more.  Now I am applying to my current sub-field of choice and, looking back, I think I would be unhappy if I would have continued down that path. Sometimes rejection creates opportunity that is better for you in the future.

I think it's also helpful to take a mindful approach, knowing that you are exactly where you are supposed to be right here, right now.

.....or maybe you don't have to worry at all because you'll be accepted =)  And then let the real worrying begin when your coursework and research piles up haha!

I have a week and a half off from work starting on Friday, and then another 2 weeks before the final semester in the masters program. Other than checking if my LORs were submitted, I don't plan on checking the admissions site anytime before mid February. I am not going to stress myself out about things that I have no control over.

I did not check the admissions site over the break, but I did check my email, which was a good thing since 2 of my LOR writers asked for some minor details before submitting their letters.

So far - 2 letters submitted, with copies sent to me

Most (5) of my schools had a 12/1 deadline and I've heard from one of them, but not the others. I know a few were going to start contacting applications for interviews right after the new year, so I was able to relax  during break thinking about how it's not even the new year yet.

Now that my vacation from work is over and schools are back open, I'm back to thinking every email notification on my phone might be from a school and being totally disappointed when it's not.  I did check the admissions sites over break and the results forum and none of my schools have any entries so I'm trying to chill the F out since it's ONLY TUESDAY.

I knew that the waiting process was gonna be long and depressing, so I decided to finish the applications early and set them aside for a while. After meeting the December 1st deadline of UT Austin, I kept on and finished all the applications in less than a fortnight, including requesting all the LORs for all the schools. There were a few short dramas among the process and I was really depressed about writing all the materials in such a short time, but my friends encouraged me and helped me with the SOPs and other stuffs. And then the long wait came, although I didn't have to check the LORs since all had been uploaded except one due to the winter break. It seems that in my major, the programs start really late and it's possible that I have to wait till February for the first response to come while more results could have me waiting till March or April. I also check the emails like on a hour basis and begin to feel a little angry about the jam emails now, even the ones from amazon about the items on my wish lists. I don't even have the money to buy those stuffs. Still, go back to checking the emails.

Ahhhhhhhh the status on UTK has changed to decision made and the decision letter will be available in three days. I have a strange feeling that this is not good news. Gee I'm more anxious than before now.

Or it could be great news, so there's that.

I didn't hear from them after submitting the application except a notification that they have received my application. I don't think they will admit a student without an interview, or maybe there's a small chance they will. Gosh I need food, like a lot. TOT

Update

I see another description on the website saying "conditionally admitted and see the decision letter for the condition". Seems I got the first admission. Haha!
