k_kismet Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 (Hopefully this thread will help people in the future applying with CSDCAS since it is so confusing and poorly instructed) Is anybody else completely fed up with CSDCAS?! My first application is due 1/15 and my official transcripts have not all been received (still waiting on one more), but otherwise I had the green checkmark to submit and pay. I already paid the extra $30 to submit he application thru the schools own website (What's the point of a common app if we still have to fill out the schools one with all the same info?!?!?!?!??!). But when I went to pay it said that things such as evaultions/recommendations and transcripts would be locked up. I'm just confused on whether or not my things all need to be received and verified before my application can be put through. CSDCAS is so vague and even looking through the help files makes me more confused.
jmk Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 You can submit an app without having your evaluations / transcripts in. Granted, all your coursework should be entered, but transcripts don't have to be verified. Meanwhile, I would remind any LOR writers to submit their eval ASAP.
plume Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I know this isn't what you were asking, but just in case: There is a difference between a deadline of the CSDCAS application being "submitted" versus "verified" by the deadline. Make sure you are meeting the deadlines! (It takes about 2 weeks for applications to be verified.)
Afternoonprogram Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I would go ahead and pay. The transcripts and the LOR do NOT need to have been received. Here's what will lock up -All your info about experience/conferences attended. Also, you will NOT be able to change your transcripts. I did not realize that the experience/conference section would lock up for all the schools that I'm still working on. Information can be Added but not deleted. Also, I found the CSDCAS staff to be super helpful with any questions and respond to my emails super quick. I emailed twice asking about transcripts and they "found" them quickly after my email. Also, since I had already paid and submitted a concern I think they were quicker to help (but maybe I just got lucky).
D_B Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Im in the same boat. Does anyone know if schools will consider you if your transcripts have not been "verified" by the deadline with everything else submitted?
ElKel87 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 @D_B It depends on the school. If you go to the CSDCAS FAQ page there is a list of all the schools and what their deadlines mean. Some just need your application to be submitted by the deadline and some need it to be verified by the deadline. You could also call the admissions offices at the schools directly to confirm. clarah 1

I understand being frustrated with CSDCAS, there's a lot of intricacies that i wish i would have known to begin with, only to find them explained in tiny print somewhere hard to find. (but that's just me venting, i know it's my responsibility) I hope it all works out! don't stress too much.
Callen Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 I'm also annoyed by CSDCAS, but somehow managed to pull through before my deadline of the 15th and get all the verifications in on time. Thank god. This will be a helpful thread to anyone applying for Fall 2018. My one tip to everyone applying for future programs: Get your transcripts in ASAP, and submit at least one application ASAP because verification doesn't begin until you submit your first application. (CSDCAS was so vague on this - I can't believe they didn't mention this in highlight anywhere)

Count your blessing if you have schools you're applying to that don't use CSDCAS. Read through these posts, and make sure your transcripts are in (you have to pay for each school you've attended- even if it was just for dual enrollment in high school or a transient credit at a local college)
imunster Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Hey folks, question off to the side here. I had everything verified and got all the green lights last month but updated my grades this past week as my fall grades came in. As so, my green lights went off and they are now waiting for my school's transcripts to get there. The academic update doesn't matter for the deadline though right? As long as my initial batch of transcripts went through and that I have calculated GPAs?
ElKel87 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 @imunster Yes, your programs will be able to view your application now even if your academic update is still pending. My one caveat is that if any of your fall grades include prereqs for the schools you're attending they may not review your application until the academic update is verified. For example, I applied to NY Medical which has rolling admissions and one of their prereqs is a Biology class. I took that this fall, so even though I submitted my application early, they said they wouldn't review it until my Biology grade was verified. I don't think that kind of thing is very common but just wanted to mention.
pdxspeechie Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 CSDCAS PANIC! I submitted my applications for two programs with "orange" deadlines (meaning they needed to be submitted by January 15th). I just got an email today saying that they are missing a transcript (a community college I took classes at as a child -- tennis, youth chorus, theater, etc.). I panicked, ordered the transcripts rush (2 days), entered the coursework, and am crossing my fingers. The CSDCAS customer service isn't open right now because of EST, so I'm hoping for someone to calm me down. My guess it that this is the kind of error that is expected in the "verification" process, and I should be okay since I ordered them rush delivery. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I will LOSE IT if this makes me unable to apply. Chat Conversation Start
