Hey all, I'm new here and just wanted to know about how many schools have you all applied to/will apply to and to which schools? I will be applying to 9 if all goes well, but NYU requires three different letters so I don't know if I will write those in time by the deadline. So I will be applying to 8 at the least (all NY schools).

  1. CUNY Queens College
  2. CUNY Hunter College
  3. CUNY Brooklyn College
  4. CUNY Lehman College
  5. Hofstra University
  6. Adelphi University
  7. Touro College
  8. LIU Post
  9. NYU

Ugh. Yeah, me too. I hope my personal statements and recommendation letters are strong enough for them to be willing to overlook my low GRE scores (3.0 AW, 141 Quant, 152 Verbal). GPA is good but may not be god enough for some schools (3.6)

Applied to 10; 5 in Ohio, 1 in Indiana, 2 in West Virginia, 1 in Pennsylvania, and 1 in Virginia.  I'm from Ohio and have relatively average stats.  I hope it's enough!

Good luck everyone :)

Hello, fellow New Yorker! :) I'm also applying to all NY schools, but only 6 on my list since I'm a career-changer and don't have a ton of prerequisites completed. Of the ones on your list I also applied to CUNY Hunter, CUNY Brooklyn and NYU.

Have you submitted your CUNY Brooklyn app yet? I ask because I just submitted the last 2 pieces of my app to their admissions office via email and got a bounce back saying due to the high volume of documents they're receiving it could take 2-5 business days to post to your account. So if you haven't submitted yet I would do it ASAP.

Good luck!

Hey fellow New Yorkers! I applied to 4 NY schools. I was going to apply to 5, but one of the school's application process had me super stressed out and it seemed excessive so I decided against it.

1. SUNY University at Buffalo

2. SUNY Fredonia

3. Nazareth College

4. Ithaca College

I just want to hear back from them already... even though the deadlines for most of them haven't come yet :P

I applied to 9 programs, 8 schools. People acted like I was applying to a ton of schools so I'm glad to see other people applied to as many as me!

I applied to 8. 5 in state and 3 out of state. I felt the need to apply to a boat load because of the competitive nature of California schools.

1) CSU Fullerton

2) CSU East Bay

3) San Diego State

4) CSU Los Angeles

5) San Jose State

6) Rush University

7) University of Washington; MedSLP

8) Portland State

I applied to three, after taking two off my list because I knew I'd not want to go there anyway, and applications are very expensive.

Some may want to apply to many, some may not. There is no "right or wrong" answer. Do what feels best for you.

@Maria70593 What did you think of the LIU Brooklyn application process? They seem a little disorganized to me but it's so competitive and I'm also out of field so I was afraid not to apply.

@JcSLP Just curious, which NY school did you cross off your list because the application seemed excessive? I briefly had one on my list too that I nixed for the same reason, plus the location was kinda inconvenient for me. I think it was Adelphi?

Hi! I graduated from SUNY Fredonia :)

Mine was New Paltz. They had directions on their website about how to apply, and then when December 1st came their directions completely changed... It just seemed disorganized. Plus the address I thought I was supposed to send my transcripts to was incorrect and they were returned back to me. After that I totally didn't feel like going through the process for a school I didn't really want to go to!

@ElKel87 Honestly I only applied because during the holidays they emailed me an application waiver so I only had to pay to send my GRE scores. But yeah... it was a little annoying. At first I thought there was no official form for LOR's, then I found one after telling my recommenders no. Also I emailed all my stuff to the school in BK only to see that they wanted it sent somewhere in Massachusetts? Oh! and I never saw anything that actually said to send GRE scores so I never did, up until a couple weeks ago when I called to check on my app and she said I was missing that. So yeah... it was a little annoying! lol

@JcSLP I graduated from NP so I feel your pain. Everything with them has always been unnecessarily tedious. They let everyone who was going to their open house know that they were changing their application instructions otherwise I would have been in the same boat as you. Out of all 11 apps, I think New Paltz actually won for most unclear. Really frustrating

I applied to 10 schools. I would have applied to less if my stats were higher. I think the general suggestion is 5-10 schools, depending on your flexibility, needs, and background. But of course, there are many people on this forum who went above 10 or below 5 and were admitted.

@Maria70593 I had the same problem with the form for LOR! I also asked at the open house if it was okay for me to only submit 1 academic (and 2 professional) as opposed to 2 academic letters since I've been out of school for almost 10 years. They told me it was fine. Then when I happened to check my application portal it suddenly went from complete to incomplete and when I called they told me it was because I DO need 2 academic letters. Good thing I checked/called! They have been very nice and supportive whenever I call or email but the disorganization makes me nervous. Glad I'm not the only one having that experience.

I applied to 10...

Florida State University (online), NYU (online), University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, East Carolina University (online), Ole Miss, Florida Atlantic University, Jacksonville University, Western Kentucky University (Online), an Nova Southeastern University. Oh the waiting game..... Good luck everyone!

@Maria70593 I'm glad I'm not the only person who felt that way! Originally I was excited to apply there... I mailed them in one letter of rec (when I thought you had to send them by mail), GRE scores and fafsa info.. but as the process went on I just kept finding myself more and more annoyed haha. I live over 3 hours away so I was never able to go to any open houses :(  Good luck though!

Hi Everyone,

I have an undergrad degree in another field so I applied to 16 schools all in New York, California, Florida, Arizona, and Delaware. Figured it was best to have more chances! I was already accepted to one (Adelphi) and I'm waiting to hear back from the other 15 :) Sending everyone positive vibes!! Hang in there!

Yes I did. I actually sent my last two documents a few days ago. But I didn't realize that there was nowhere to submit it online. So I had to send it via mail. I'm hoping they receive it by tomorrow. And I actually just emailed them tonight about the status of my application and it gave me the same message about the 3-5 business days. Oh and how come you sent your documents via email instead of mail?

Last cycle (for fall 2016) I applied to 6-7 schools and got rejected everywhere. I applied to NYU's online program in November and got admitted and started three weeks ago. Good luck!!
