To add another school to look out for, Northwestern might send out admits towards the end of the week. Given past years it might be the week after though.

Yikes! This process has totally consumed my life these last six months, don't know if I feel more excited or nervous about admissions decisions finally rolling out! ?

So, here is a brief list of schools that may announce some decision this week that people on this thread seem to be invested in, either because of past history or interviews:

Texas

North Carolina (UNC)

Emory

Northwestern

Washington University in St. Louis (WashU)

Colorado

Ohio State University (OSU)

Stony Brook

And schools that have already begun to announce that may have more decisions

Wisconsin

West Virginia

Georgia

Missouri

Michigan State (MSU)

Rice

I'm a neutral observer in most of this. I have one acceptance and another decision that may come this week in Colorado. I'm just genuinely interested to see how this cohort shapes up nation wide. Best of luck to everyone!

Comparative & methodology. The professors who interviewed me was not the ones I wrote in my SOP, though!

I applied to Emory, but I've yet to hear anything. Did they mention anything about when decisions would be announced?

I seriously just want to get my first decision, even if it's a rejection. I just want some type of closure. Northwestern will likely be my first based on what people are saying. So hopefully that shoe drops sooner rather than later.

I'm getting really anxious. It seems like decisions this year are being announced both later and slower than they were last year. I at least expected to hear from Emory by this point.

I applied to Northwestern, too. Are you expecting to be rejected?

Northwestern is theoretically my back up, so I would take it as a bad sign for the subsequent decisions if I got rejected. But then again I think there are plenty of reasons I would get rejected from there: lower GRE (which I think will hurt me for all schools), shaky writing sample, and it's not the best fit.

I go through cycles where I think I have a fighting chance at getting accepted anywhere (and I applied to ~5 top 10, including 3 CHYMPS). But then other times I'm really skeptical about my chances at getting in anywhere (for the aforementioned reasons: subpar GRE, not an amazing writing sample, possibly a weak letter, sub 3.8 GPA, etc.). My fall back option is to get a masters and then try again (top choice I think will be Chicago Harris MACRM).

If it makes you feel any better, I have a terribly low quantitative score (though high verbal and AW scores), and I have made the short list (after interviewing) with a top 15 program.

I just received an email saying that I have been nominated for a fellowship. Does that mean an acceptance? It doesn’t say acceptance in the email or on the portal ?

Congrats! I feel like it's implied, but I'm not 100% certain. Which program, if you don't mind sharing?

I'd be cautiously optimistic on it. I think it means you're for sure on the short list and seriously being considered. However, they might be attempting to evaluate the financial offer they can provide to different candidates.

I would probably just email the department and ask.

I don't think you would be nominated for a fellowship without having been admitted.

I hope so. It will be a relief while waiting for other decisions to be announced. I found that to be nominated for that fellowship the department should have admitted or will admit the student.

This fellowship will begin with the nomination of a student by the academic unit that has admitted the student, or will admit by the endorsement deadline.

Is it just me or does every day go by a little bit slower than the last?

Really hoping Northwestern happens this week, we've waited long enough!

I ruled out top 10 because I lacked research experience (didn't realize I wanted to pursue this until my last semester of school because of a class I took), and my sub-par GRE score (160v 153q 4.5awa). I still felt I could shoot for top 10-40 though because my letters of recommendation should be pretty stellar. One said I was one of the brightest students he had in 18 years of teaching. Another is a distinguished prof in the sub-field I'm interested in, and he did an edit of my SOP without prompting saying it was really good and he made a few editorial changes to make it even better. So I'm hoping my strong letters and SOP will carry me in light of my lack of research and meh GRE's. (Oh, I had a 3.87 GPA with a 4.0 in poli sci). Figured I'd chime in since we applied to the same program. I'll be sure to post here the moment I hear anything.

@Hamb, I only ask because historically UW doesn't seem to have interviewed people. How did it go? Any insight as to when decisions will be coming? Are they interviewing everyone who is competitive or just a handful of applicants?

I haven't posted either result to the results page yet, but I can happily claim an interview at University of Washington and George Washington University! Btw, congratulations!

Was the GWU interview invite sent by your POI or the department? Btw, congratulations!

Congrats to both! I guess I'm out if I don't get an interview today. Oh well, 2 down 6 to go.
