  1. So far, I've seen three of the divinity schools that I'm applying move their dates back. Yale - January 18th; Candler - February 1st; Harvard - February 1st. I know that weather and office closings have been cited for the reasons, but I'm curious whether or not this means that they haven't received as many applications as in years past, and are giving extra time to try and get more. Hey, a guy can dream, right? :crosses fingers: Also, how do you plan to utilize the delays? I've already submitted to all of these institutions, so I can't really take advantage of it, but I'm sure some of you will be using the extra time to fine tune your applications
  2. I wrote it, had it reviewed by a prof in the field, and when I hit submit I forced myself to just be done...difficult but peaceful.
  3. Snowpocalypse 2011 for the deep south (me included). For Hothlanta pictures: http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-539017
  4. Yeah, I definitely thought it was odd when Harvard did it, considering they had a tough deadline (11th). Wow, Emory is very prompt. That's kind of exciting then.
  5. If you really can't go, then you can't. It wouldn't hurt to talk let them know why you won't be able to make it (exams). I'm sure they'd understand that you have schoolwork to finish up at your current institution.
  6. Why is March so far away?
  7. I know at my institution grades can be changed throughout the entire semester after grades are posted.
  8. So, funnily enough, this thread is just a conversation between you and I. I'll actually give my info. Applied to: Andover Newton, Boston U, Candler, Harvard, Union, Vanderbilt, and Yale (alphabetical ordering) For: MDiv Lord, I hope I get in somewhere....
  9. I'm actually currently attending UTK as an undergrad majoring in religious studies, and applying to MDiv programs, just like you.
  10. I might end up applying to Boston U's, but right now I'm focused on my January 11th and 15th deadlines.
  11. My bad; those are just traditionally Methodist places to train for ministry, but I'm sure you could be interested in interdenominational dialogue or not even interested in ordained ministry.
  12. Ah, simple, but truthful
  13. It's kinda like my reaction to the "barefoot bandit." Not a good guy, but I inevitably am impressed by any teenager capable of evading police and stealing a plane...
  14. Thanks for the info. How do you like BC?
  15. Berkeley needs to be at the top of your list. I'd say Sewanee and Virginia are a bit too conservative for you liking, but Berkeley would fit nicely. UK tends to be more conservative with regards to the Anglican communion than the US...but that's a vague generality and I can't give you specifics on schools in the UK.

  22. Your writing sample will speak to your writing abilities more so than your AW score on the GRE. i doubt most adcoms will even give it a second thought if you have a strong writing sample.
  23. I've also heard this advice and plan to follow it.
