Best day of the year! Even when you no longer work in Boston and thus have to work still...

haha it was amazing. it was my first marathon ever and it was FREEZING. thank God the route was right in front of my apartment street so I could just keep going in and out of my house if it got too cold.

Right? this is an actual real question i'm currently pondering. perhaps there is no way to do it. but it's not fair when you have to take your time out of the day to re-explain or re-hash something to them multiple times because they don't understand an assignment and you have no choice but to walk them through it because you're stuck as their partner.

i realized that i was happy being on the 3rd floor after i went down to the basement to do my laundry and heard kids running and stomping around up above me...

On weekends I hear periodic squeaking noises coming from above. I try to imagine it's grandma reading the newspaper on her rocking chair.

I have since moved for grad school, but at my previous residence, the fellow upstairs was out of control. I can sympathize. He once came downstairs, knocked, and let me know that he was "currently demon possessed" and that if I heard strange noises, to not be alarmed. ... Fun place. lol

I've seen plenty of ads for rooming-house type situations in my future city that specify no alcohol and no overnight guests (usually for females only). I guess there must be people willing to live in that situation though since I see such ads every day ...

Why the hell does the gender of the overnight guest matter? Your landlord sounds like a kook.

i thought all the same things...and i guess it's also cuz my roommates were also the ones who said no overnight male guests allowed...they just didn't like the idea of one of us having a boyfriend coming to sleepover every night ever week every month without paying rent. but that's not going to be a problem for me, i just have male friends (completely platonic) who might want to visit, and they all say no to that, which i think is whack as all hell.

If you like italian food, the North End has some great places to eat. Granted, it's not always cheap but it's worth trying it out. And I don't say this lightly because I spent the better half of my childhood in Italy

Oh and I totally second Fuzzy's suggestion. Def. check out the Arboretum - a little out of the way but beautiful this time of year. Renting bikes and riding up there from Boston is fun too

haha let's hope! it's been a busy/stressful 2 days...i also registered for classes and boy does my schedule look bleak.

I've lucked out using CL in Massachusetts. Apparently it's less useful for the city I'm moving to, though >_<

The Cambridge/Boston thread really helped me out. Lucky for me, at least people on this site were super friendly and helpful when I reached out to them...way more helpful than the stupid real estate agents I've encountered...

Yeah I have already decided on my apartment. Thanks in part to GradCafe. Although I am in touch with the property manager, I don't know if my application will be accepted or not. I really like the apartment and don't want to miss out on it.
