Applying to, accepting, and attending a funded Ph.D. program with the intention of never completing the degree and to leave after you earn an MA is deceitful and unethical. Taking that spot from someone who actually wants it is no good for anyone. Others may disagree, but I don't know who they are.

They said, no assistanship is available for me, but they nominated me to Graduate School
Tuition Award. It covers all the tuition fees, but I do not know whether it provides monthy stipend or not. How do you think?

Just got a phone call from the DGS at Pittsburgh (top choice!). Admitted off the waitlist! One of the best days of my life! 

I saw "Texas A&M" in my new unread email this afternoon, and thought, dread. I know this program has yet to send out rejections, so I knew it was the day of reckoning. 
 
Well, I was wrong, it was an acceptance letter. I just now read it another time just to be sure. I literally can't believe this. I'm not even happy or excited yet, I am just in disbelief since this was my top dream program, and I never thought I had a chance. (Okay, it's starting to sink it, and thus, the happiness and excitement!)

Specifics: IR subfield. Received an email from Susan Hyde. I don't remember mentioning her in my SOP (though I've since changed computers so don't have it easily accessible to check!). My guess is that she's sending notifications out for all in the IR subfield.

I suppose it shouldn't surprise me considering how late their deadline was this year, but Syracuse is taking forever! Don't know what to do with myself other than stay entertained by reading all the random little arguments that break out here on gradcafe Keep up the good work everybody haha.

Is anyone else obsessed with reading CVs of successful academics?  It's actually all I do with my life anymore...

There's a Harvard acceptance from March of last year with the comment "Only acceptance of this cycle! Don't lose hope at any time!" When my first few decisions were all rejections, I read that comment over and over.

Yup. and also of grad students at schools I want to be in. And also young assistant profs that have moved on to great jobs. To the point where i can actually tell you who's been on who's dissertation committees...desperate stalkerish behavior 

To the person who was rejected from Stanford and wishes you'd told them you were African-American...
 
When the sting of the rejection wears off, I hope you feel pretty crappy about that comment. You should feel crappy about it.
