  1. What specifically is it about Bougie that is so terrible, I may ask? I took A&P at another unviersity near me but because it was a 200 level course, they're making me take it again at ENMU. So will the fact that I already took it possibly give me an advantage? What have you heard about Barrow? She seems to have terrible reviews too on ratemyprofessor. I'm just trying to figure out who the lesser of two evils is.
  2. So I'm hearing all these terrible things about Bougie. How is Irene Barrow? Does anyone know?
  3. Martin gives a lot of bonus points. I honestly think Speech Science will be boring no matter who teaches it. I like Martin though, and like I said he gives lots of bonus points.
  4. What are these classes like? Open book or nah?
  5. I know for a fact LSU New Orleans and Shreveport do give priority to Louisiana residents. I'm not sure about LSU-Baton Rouge though.
  6. I'm in the prep leveling program, which for the longest time I thought was the same as the 2nd bachelor's program. I emailed Suzanne Swift and she told me I had to reapply if I wanted a 2nd BS.
  7. about 3 to 4 months before. I used magoosh and tutor i found on wyzant.com
  8. How did you apply for the 2nd bachelor's?
  9. What does 454 entail? And this past year I applied to LSU Health Sciences Center, University of Houston, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, University of South Alabama, and Jackson State University. I think next year I'm just going to stick with LSUHSC, UH, and ULL. How about you?
  10. Is there anyone here that took the Preclinical and observation lab and that was enough to allow you to become an SLP-A in your state, or did you also have to do the Practicum course as well? Can the practicum course be taken online? Thanks.
  11. I haven't taken 454 yet, which is Speech and Language Assessment, but 434, Aural Rehab, I wouldn't say was hard, but more like the teacher, Dr. Lingnau, took off points for mundane things. Just remember for the weekly discussions to be as detailed as possible in your responses.
  12. 434 was rough! Glad I'm not the only one who felt that way. Dr. Wilkerson and Dr. Copple wrote them for me. Although, Wilkerson gets asked a lot, so he only writes them for your top 3 schools. Good luck.
  13. What's the difference between the two? I'm a prep leveling student, but I'm pretty sure once I'm done I will earn a 2nd bachelor's degree?
  14. My dream school told me that next year they MIGHT implement a CSD GPA requirement, and it MIGHT be a 3.5 So, I did a calculation and if I get straight A's in the rest of my courses, I will end up with a 3.46 major GPA. Is there anyone here who got into a school with a GPA slightly below the requirement? What other aspect on your application may have counteracted that? Thanks.
  15. If you look on EdFind you can research schools, and see what stats they accepted in the previous year. Also, note that sometimes a high GRE can offset a weak GPA.
  16. well if you've ever done ABA therapy, it should count for the experience, right? At least I would think. And if you have nothing tying you down in NY, I would definitely move so you could be an SLPA. I don't know anything about Music or Art therapy, but it seems like such a waste of money for a degree you don't really want that much.
  17. So far, all I've been getting are rejections too. My plan B is to finish my second bachelor's degree and become and SLPA. During the summer I may also retake some CSD courses that I got B's in, so that GPA can go up and be a little bit more competetive.
  18. Could you be an SLP/A? If you could sit for the BCBA exam and you like working with kids with autism, I would go for it.
  19. thanks for your concern! it's especially frustrating because this is my fourth time applying with them.
  20. Anyone else in this same boat? I'm hoping "no news is good news" applies here.
  21. If it wasn't diagnosed professionally, then don't mention it. How are you going through this exactly?
  22. I do ABA therapy now, and I love it! Great experience for anyone who plans to work with kids, special needs or not. Highly recommend it. However, where I live the pay is a little less than livable.
