I am not saying about the interviews. As I posted before. The first round "review" of applications has been finished according to the graduate admission manager. She said second round could be possible, and all the admission decisions will be sent out by the end of Feb.

Oh...I am talking about the PHD programs only. No information about the Master programs.

To be honest, I have to say that all of our applications have been reviewed and at least the first round is done. The thing is I was trying to update some of my materials two weeks ago, I got rejected to do so since the review process is done. However, there is no single admission result yet. When I was trying to do the same thing with UPenn, they took my materials and telling me this week on Monday that my materials have been updated, and is ready for review. The condition is actually pretty clear. The first round is done, and "top candidates" invitations have been out. Second round could be possible, and waitlist is also possible. No admissions have been made yet. We will hear solid result by the end of Feb.

Do not lose any hope. The final result will be out at the end of Feb for sure. Before that, we do not know about anything. People may be rejected after their interviews with the professors or may refuse their offers as well. This is very common among Ph.D. programs.

What does it mean when professors reply the emails and say, "full consideration of your application or all due consideration of your application?" I feel their email replies are very vague to understand. Please help!

No-Interview Means Possible Rejection?

I was talking to a Professor early this week about the admission, and he told me the notification will go out this Tuesday. Not sure how accurate this is. -
No-Interview Means Possible Rejection?
tianqian345432 replied to tianqian345432's topic in Education Forums
Hi, Which program are you applying at Northwestern? The HDSP? -
Not sure how accurate this is. I was trying to update my materials early this week, like my fall quarter transcript as well as other documents. The admission office emailed me back and took my updated materials and told me they would put them into my application package. That was Tuesday, and my package is still under "ready for review".

I am just wondering for Education related Ph.D., how likely is it to be accepted if you get an interview invitation, and how likely is it to be rejected if you do not get an interview invitation? I have some friends studying in very top education programs, and most of them did not get interview invitations. They are telling me to wait until the end of Feb. to see the final result, and no need to worry about the January thing. Is this true? Anybody has any sure-information? Thanks!

I just got an email from the graduate admission lady, and here is the current condition based on her reply, "I’m sorry to say that I cannot provide much detail at this point. What I can tell you is that the admissions committee has contacted their top tier applicants about visiting campus, but no admission or rejection decisions have been made. Admit decisions will not be made until the end of February."

Chicago Harris 2nd Year Opinion
tianqian345432 replied to Reasonablyterrified's topic in Government Affairs Forum
Hello. I am actually planning going to Harris. I really love your post , and I have couples questions for you if you do not mind. First, I have heard that Harris is very quantitative, I am wondering how quantitative is that? I mean what kind of math/stat level is required to handle the core courses at Harris? I am an Econ major at UC Berkeley, and I have taken couple upper stat courses at Berkeley with pretty good grade, will I be able to handle the courses at Harris? Second, I am kind of worried about my future career development. I am really interested in working in like international organizations, such as UN or world bank...Does Harris offer or have any opportunities for this kind of jobs or programs? I have heard that Harris is more domestic policy oriented, and lack of international policy studies, so I kind of hesitate about the MPP. I know I may have so many questions. I f you have time, please give me some advice, because I am choosing between Chicago and Columbia, and it is a very painful process for me now and I really need some professional advice. Thank you very much! -
