I was accepted to University of West Georgia today! Super excited!
-
@PinkSpeech I am so glad you can use your boyfriend's laptop! I still haven't figured out what to say yet . I think I am going to sit down on Friday, write everything out, and turn it in that night! I wish the video could be longer! I want to give them a good answer, but 2 minutes or less is not a lot of time!
-
@PinkSpeech, I feel the exact same way! My dad is really into videography, so I am going to ask for his help, lol! Do you have a mac laptop? I would honestly use your laptop and the Imovie feature to edit your video! Good luck to you! I hope we get in!!
-
@Gingiestrong I am so nervous to make this video! And it also makes me a little nervous to think how many people they sent this email to. I'm sure they've narrowed down their list a lot, but who knows! They could have sent like 80 people this email . I think we just need to be very open to them! It is so hard to say everything you want to say in less than 2 minutes! I wonder how many people they are going to accept this year! I hope we both get in!! Hopefully we will get an answer very soon!
-
@Gingiestrong, I also received that email! I am super excited . And I have no idea what I am going to do too!
-
Also, any chance you know if there is a "ETSU Class of 2018" FB page? I would love to join it if there is one!
-
As of right now it is my top choice too! I am waiting to hear back from a few other schools, and Jacksonville may be my school of choice if I get in, but otherwise I should be going to ETSU in the fall! I did email Dr. Proctor-Williams, and it looks like they are having an open house there on March 19th! I'm not sure if I will be able to make it since I am in FL, but I definitely am going to try my best to go!

You are very welcome! And I have a few friends in the program now. The classes would be at the speech and hearing clinic. There are classrooms in there, and also the clinic. The building is a little older, but I like the clinic a lot! And I feel like most graduate students live in midtown area. I live right by campus- rent is pretty cheap, and the neighborhood is quiet! If you want to PM, I can give you more information about my housing situation, and other housing options! I would stay away from the newer apartments that are currently being built, or just were built. The city is growing pretty fast, and a lot of undergrads are paying a ton of money to live in the newer, nicer apartments. If you're looking for a good, but cheaper place to live, I am more than happy to list off some apartments for you! -

I did my undergrad at FSU, and I currently live in Tallahassee! Congrats on getting in to their master's program! I unfortunately did not get in. But the city is great! It isn't too small or too big. Definitely a college town. There is a decent mall, lots of good bars and restaurants! FSU is beautiful! The Speech and Hearing Clinic is off campus, but very close to the main campus! And the cost of living here is pretty cheap too :). Let me know if you have any other questions! -

@Lunalulu2 Yes, I am so excited!! And I am waiting to hear back from a couple more schools! I really liked Jacksonville University, so that may be my first choice for now! But if Jacksonville doesn't work out, I will go to ETSU! If we both go to ETSU, let me know if you need a roommate! Haha!- 37 replies

@Lunalulu2 Haha, I didn't like Tallahassee either! I've been here for almost 6 years, and love it! It's been a great town to live in. And I applied to: USF, FSU, Jacksonville University, University of West Georgia, Armstrong University, ETSU, Iona College, Valdosta State and Saint Mary's in IN. Today I found out I was rejected from FSU and Armstrong, so that kind of sucked:/. But I am trying to stay positive! Hopefully I will be accepted somewhere! Congrats on having multiple acceptances!- 37 replies

@Lunalulu2 I live in Tallahassee too! But I totally understand. I have been in Tallahassee for almost 6 years, so leaving would be very hard. I'm just hoping I get in to one school this year! But even if I do, moving will still be very hard. And rejection is never easy. I didn't get in anywhere last year, and have been rejected from FSU and Armstrong today. I am still trying to stay positive, though!- 37 replies

It's alright! I knew it was a longshot. I am an out-of-field applicant, with pretty mediocre GRE scores. I am doing my best to get in somewhere though! I applied to: USF, FSU, Jacksonville University, Armstrong University, University of West Georgia, ETSU, Iona College, Valdosta and Saint Mary's College in IN. I got rejected today from Armstrong and FSU. Still waiting to hear back from everyone else. This is my second year applying, so fingers crossed I get in somewhere. I completed my undergraduate degree at FSU, and I did the prerequisite bridge program at FSU with a 4.0. This process has been super competitive and stressful!- 37 replies

FSU should be sending out their decisions by the end of this week. And I think Jacksonville is sending their decisions mid-March for those who applied to their early deadline. I applied to USF, and still haven't heard from them. I applied to them last year, and was waitlisted. They had a huge waitlist last year :/.- 37 replies

I would try emailing Kathy Wasson! I think she deals with the applications
-
@Lunalulu2I think you're right! I'm assuming we will hear this Friday about FSU.
-
I totally feel your pain! And applying to a lot of schools can be very expensive. I definitely applied to more schools this year than last year. I applied to: USF, FSU, JU, UWG, Armstrong, East Tennessee State, Valdosta, Saint Mary's College in IN, Iona College. I had an interview with UWG back in early February, but haven't heard back from them yet.
-
@alyc Her email is: kjwasson@usf.edu. Good luck! Let me know what she says. And good for you for trying again! I just need one acceptance. Hopefully we will both hear good news this time around. I am an out-of-field applicant and did my prerequisite classes at FSU. I retook the GRE ( I am horrible at taking that test) and tried to revamp my resume and LOI. Where all did you apply?
-
@alyc I emailed Kathy Wasson. She told me that my application is still being reviewed by the department, and that she hasn't received my application back with a decision. She is hoping I will know by the end of this week, but who knows . I applied last year and didn't get in anywhere. This whole process has been very stressful. Maybe try emailing Kathy Wasson? I bet your application is "still under review" too. I'm just hoping it isn't a rejection. Last year I was watlisted here. Fingers crossed for both of us!!
