Warelin got a reaction from Teaching Faculty Wannabe in The Positivity Thread
My article was accepted to a peer-reviewed journal. Is this real life?

Warelin got a reaction from Bopie5 in Visit Dates?
Of the 6 programs I was accepted into last year, 4 of them had visit days or a visit weekend. Only two of them offered a paid visit/reimbursement.

Warelin got a reaction from TITX in Late LOR vs Rushed New One
Universities are semi-lenient on late recommendation letters because they understand professors have many tasks which are required of them. I think as long as your professor submits before they start reviewing, you'll be fine. I'd advise against asking for a LOR this late from a new person this late because it would be rushed and it might be seen as lacking etiquette which could ultimately ruin how your supervisor feels about you. Letters from Professors and PHD Holders witin the field also often hold more weight because they know what it takes to get through a program. You aren't the first person that will submit late letters and you won't be the last. It happens every year and students get admitted because they have strong materials and fit what the program is looking for.
Good luck!

Congrats!!! So exciting, I’m so happy for you. Will it be accessible online or through any databases, or is it in a subscription journal?

Congratulations! Though wow, that's such a quick turnaround!

Small note here: We prefer GRE Writing to be in the "GRE/GMAT/etc" subforum of the Applications section because it allows Writing Samples for schools.

Why aren't you applying here? All my courses next semester are focused on Contemporary Drama or Gender and Sexuality!
I'm currently waiting to hear back from 2 journals regarding pieces I wrote on Adichie and Suzan-Lori Parks. I think I should hear back sometime in February.
Bummer that you didn't get to see Sweat. I've heard great things about the performance!

I need more people interested in Adichie to come here. I'm spreading my time between English, Women and Gender Studies, and the Drama department to have a fuller experience of talking about Adichie, Suzan-Lori Parks, Lynn Nottage, and Katori Hall.

FWIW: One of the last programs I added last year was the one I ultimately ended up attending. I overlooked it in my original go around but found my old notes and couldn't help having a lot of admiration for the program. There are so many opportunities here and the city is wonderful.
Are you interested in Digital Humanities?

Warelin got a reaction from mmcat in 3 Year Masters Programs in Speech Pathology?
Hi @mmcat,
I moved your topic from "Comments, Questions, Etc." which is for asking questions about the forum and the results system to "Speech-Language Pathology" because I think the members on this forum will be better equipped to answer your question.

As of 10 minutes ago, all my apps are officially in! I think Chicago is probably my top choice, but it's hard to pick because I love all the schools I applied to.

Ugh, would've loved too. I had a full courseload this semester + lots of extracurricular activities, and I had to cut my list off at 7 for my own sanity. But WUSTL (alongside York University and UPenn) are on my add list for next cycle if it doesn't work out this time.
Oooh, I hope you get published, I would love to read those pieces. Let me know what happens!

Warelin got a reaction from nushi in federal financial aid & international students!
I think they're referring to the fact that a lot of students take out loans because moving expenses can be expensive. I think I spent around $1500 to move my stuff via a storage pod + first month's rent + deposit + car rental + gas money to move. A lot of people take out a loan because they can't afford that cost out of pocket and a lot of programs don't pay out a stipend until 2-4 weeks after classes start. I think that's why they stress initial living expenses and federal financial aid within those sentences.

I realize that the people doing it are unlikely to read this, but please use the spreadsheet Warelin shared wisely. The idea is to add information you have when you have it. Instead, data is being deleted and the sheet is made unreadable by aesthetic changes. Some of us are actually referring to this document regularly, so please be careful as anything you touch might result in a permanent change and there's no reason for anyone to have to oversee the document.

I think the page you found relates to Undergraduates. I think this is the page you were referring to?
Funding at the Graduate level is not dependent on Federal Financial Aid. The only time that Federal Financial Aid would have any impact is if you wanted to take out any student loans. Federal Aid is handled by the Student Financial Services office. Funding at the Graduate level is determined by the Grad School or the individual academic departments. As a Graduate student, you would still be eligible for Graduate funding.

Thanks for catching that. Based on the history, it seems that someone deleted the information on Thanksgiving. (Perhaps, somebody had a little too much turkey!)
I've restored it to a backed up version but it seems like some of the values are off. I'll take a deeper look later on this week!

Good luck! I'd heavily consider looking beyond T20 programs. There are a few programs that are stronger in certan concentrations that USNews doesn't account for because they base their opinion off of 11-14 percent of respondents.
