Akon reacted to Speechster in Excited, but scared and overwhelmed (need encouragement..!)
Im doing mine right now and while its time consuming, you just do it. Im not trying to be rude at all, but you just schedule it in and do everything else around it. Depending on who you work for, you might even have down time that you could use to study. If its giving you free tuition its worth the hard work.

Akon got a reaction from SpeechLaedy in Part time jobs
I served and still do full-time all throughout college - I have always taken 18-20 credit hours and right now I have a research assistantship too!
I work at a sushi restaurant so the hours are great - it's only open until 9 on weekdays, 8 on Sundays, and 10 on weekends.
I never make under 20.00 an hour and usually about 30.00 an hour (after tips) on weekends so the money is great.
However when I start Graduate school I'm going to wait to see if I can still handle serving on the weekends still but I will say as long as you do everything in advance as far as school - it's doable and great money.
I also will say - I'm not sure what you do right now but Serving can be really stressful at time and definitely requires a unique skill set - it's tough on your body and you'll need high patience, multitasking skills, and ability to always smile
Also if you don't have any experience you will probably have to start out hosting or bussing tables.
Good luck!

Based on this year and previous years, there is a tier one waitlist and then everyone else. I don't think anyone knows where exactly they are on the waitlist and i don't think they would tell us if we asked

Is there a Facebook page yet for MWU-Glendale?

Akon got a reaction from Callen in Waitlists
I'm on the Tier One waitlist at Pacific.
It's my top choice but I have no idea how many people are on the Tier One with me but I just saw last night on the Results page that someone is not taking their spot at Pacific because they got in somewhere they like better.
I can't even explain the feelings I'm going through right now!

If it makes you feel any better, I was accepted off of a waitlist, and so were several of my cohort members.

Akon got a reaction from SLPsingballs in How to cope with rejection
Hi!
I came from a Pre Med major before (stats in signature) and both of my parents are doctors.
When I decided I want to pursue SLP my mom didn't talk to me for months. (Ah the joys of being Asian!)
However I worked really hard to bring up my GPA as much as I could since I was on academic probation by the time I left my first school to transfer to the one I'm in now.
I did my best to form bonds with my professors and got a research assistantship in Linguistics (my minor).
I did a ton of research and saved up a bunch of money to apply to schools I thought were a good fit!
I got a ton of rejections, and one was from my undergraduate university I'm at now. That hurt.
I kept my hopes low during the whole process so I would be pleasantly surprised.
I have gotten one acceptance and two waitlists and I'm supposed to hear back from 2 more schools I applied to by tonight!
I am so happy to be accepted anywhere as I truly was prepared for all rejections and I'm on the top tier waitlist at my top choice university so I'm over the moon.
My advice is to just stay strong and realistic.
I know it's hard but stressing and worrying after you've already put your apps in does nothing. Whatever happens will happen and with the right amount of work you can achieve whatever - yes it may take longer than your original plan but don't worry as life is long
Cheers and good luck to all!

I'm sorry to hear you got a rejection but I bet you're happy to have some closure as hanging in limbo is the worst!
Good luck with the rest of the schools you're waiting on!

Akon reacted to tvl in How to cope with rejection
This is my 2nd time applying. I don't have the best stats by any means. First round I didn't do as much research and applied to 8 schools. Rejected and waitlisted. 2nd time around I did more research into schools- I also applied to way less for financial reasons and got 1 acceptance so far!! In the meantime, I took pre-reqs I was missing and formed bonds with current professors and supervisors to get better LORs. I also took more time on my personal statement and worked as a SLPA for 4 years. Don't give up hope! It took me 4 years after undergrad to gain the courage to just apply because of all the horror stories I heard! It is tough but doable! Good luck

I am but the survey page shows they wait till the end of the month.

Akon reacted to CCCaffeinated-SLP in Is it too early to accept an offer?
I am happy to say that I was recently accepted to one of my top 2 programs! I've been thinking it over for over a week and I would really like to accept this offer- is it too early? I know the deadline is April 15, which is more than a month away...
I am still waiting on 3 schools, but I am more interested in the school I got accepted to than the ones I'm waiting on. The only other program I'd want to attend other than the one I got accepted to has offered me a spot on their waitlist- should I also accept this? Also, should I withdraw my applications other schools? I'd like to give other people a chance to get in as well.
TIA!
