This this this Partially my fault for stalking this forum and results list, but let me know if I'm waitlisted or denied, or if you will have more acceptances to send out!!
-
Thanks guys!

What online schools are you looking at? I have to retake a chem or physics course because of the same reason. I've been trying to find online options, and have a few through local universities, but that's it.

Has anyone had to retake any gen. ed. glasses post graduation? How did you go about doing so?

What Schools Are You Waiting On!?
mbf replied to speechie2b's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I keep refreshing mine, too. One of the schools I'm waiting on gave out a few acceptances and waitlists yesterday and I'm being almost neurotic about checking the results page on this site, my email, and the forums lol -
Definitely do some research before black friday, I've heard that especially for some types of technology, Black Friday is not the cheapest time to buy! https://www.cnet.com/how-to/heres-the-tech-you-shouldnt-buy-on-black-friday/ ^^ this site states to look for higher end PCs in the summer for back to school sales

If I get in this round, I will probably update my own chromebook and pass on my current one to my mom. I know some people reallllllly dislike them but I have nothing but praise for it! But I really enjoy having the ability to access all of my documents and pictures from my phone, my computer, and any other computer. @mcook64 I would definitely recommend! If you have the ability to go into a best buy or something, they'll be able to walk you through the different models (I have an Acer)
-
If If you're okay with everything Google drive, definitely look into a chrome book. The price has come down significantly in the last few years. Would be worth it to put out an email to your program or do some research if they have anything that would require more than a chrome book offers, but it got me through undergrad and when it didn't, I just used the lab and library computers at my school.

Whitewater has started to send out decisions, there are a few waitlisted and one accepted (so far) on the results search!

See, I have an email out to the credentialing department of Washington state to ask if they would accept those hours as experience. On their certification application, they have an education form for the hours, or work experience form for the hours. I'm working in speech/language, but I don't have the SLPA hours and can't "fudge" them from my job lol. Just even more of a waiting game at this point haha. Thanks for your insight, nice to hear that there are ways, even if a long process, to do it without spending a year of mostly review to get a certificate.
-
Yeah, I noticed those classes and would have no problem taking those! It's the child language disorder, stuttering, etc. classes that I noticed a majority of the programs have in the first semester before you even get any clock hours. Might just have to suck it up, but trying to find any other possible routes beforehand. Thanks!!
-
Thanks! I was considering doing it on my own anyways and having documentation that way, the state I would like to move to (Washington state) has a requirement of the 100 hours to gain certification to be an SLPA, I'm just waiting to hear back if they would even accept hours in that form.

I know this is a semi-frequent topic in this forum, but I am looking into back-up options pretty frequently as decisions are coming out. I have my bachelor's in CDIS, and I have been working on a limited license in speech path (through the department of education in my state, Minnesota) Has anyone found a way to get 100 hours, (50 of which are directly supervised) without paying $$$$ to retake classes you already took in undergrad just to get the practicum hours offered in a certificate or AA program for SLPA?

Does anyone have any information regarding St. Ambrose? I was not offered an interview, but I have not received any official decision from them yet. I am not under the assumption that this is a case of "no news is good news," but I'm delusionally hopeful that there may still be another round of interviews? Beyond that, I am waiting to hear from UW-Whitewater as a second year applicant, and Idaho State University, but from communications with school and as others have posted here, that may not be until after April 1st. -
Same. I got a thank you for responding message stating the next reply would be around June 15th, but that's all.
-
On the results search, someone just declined offers from University of North Dakota, Adelphi, and Whitewater on Saturday. Keeping fingers crossed that someone on this forum gets some good news out of that!
-
A majority of my waitlists have been just that, actually. Maybe it's just the schools I applied to, but not one informed me that they placed me on the waitlist; they all asked me if I would like to be considered for their waitlist or not. Once again, maybe other schools have different wording, but I don't think you should feel any less confident in this waitlist just because they asked if you were interested or not. Good luck
-
I've done that with 2/3, both said they would be in contact should any changes happen, and one of them said regardless of a spot or not I would hear in about a month. Staying hopeful though!
-
Congratulations!! So happy for you

Sending good thoughts your way <3

Really so happy for you! And I really appreciate you posting your experience on threads like these. Gives me hope This is my second cycle applying, and my first cycle all I got was rejections and a super-vague, kind-of-waitlist but not really from my alma matter. I was absolutely crushed. But I beefed up my experience and landed three waitlists this cycle. And if rejection comes, I think I'll be okay with it. I'll just have to put in a lot more work and start even earlier on apps and hope that Fall 2017 is my cycle if I don't hear back about waitlists in the next few weeks.

Literally same about the paranoia. I've been thinking "What if I just resubmit, will they think I'm crazy?" And I already contacted them last week so I don't feel it would be appropriate to keep bothering them haha. But I got a confirmation page and it worked the first time so I keep telling myself I'm fine hahaha
-
I filled it out as soon as I got it. I figured they maybe would wait until then, but you never know!
-
Ahh, good luck at Milwaukee!!

@Zeen321 @koalalover1 Any news from UW-W? Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us
