Those of us who know have asked Dr. Hicks. Since you're getting off the list there's no point in asking her, but in case you do I want to know the answer

Hey all! I have been accepted into an English MA, and am interesting in applying for their WGS certificate as well. However, I'm a little worried it'll be too hard to organize with work (I don't have funding)/MA/certificate. Would anyone mind telling me about pros and cons of getting the certificate? Is it really necessary or even useful? I'd like to do a PhD of Comparative Literature afterwards. My main focus in Literature is emergence of feminism and gender/sexuality queerness, but maybe just a few classes taken from the department could be enough. Thank you!

I understand, @Thersites! I'm more than likely to accept the offer regardless of the funding I may or may not receive. I certainly hope there will be significant movement on the list, but I'm #12 so not too much hope, there.

What if you don't know about funding before April 15?

@Gray Under Gray it would be really too bad, to say the least, to refuse my position at Villanova! It's a great place I think, with faculty members that are a very good fit for me and I don't think I'll make it into any funded MA (GPA and GRE too low) in 2018, let alone a PhD. And your message only reassures me more! We don't know how these students have played their applications + someone got into Rutgers + if the department decided to help their PhD-inspiring students even more, then I don't see how their next PhD applicants can't make it into a top 10 -

Thank you for posting that about VU's PhD placement -
Agreed! The 0.0001% chance that UCLA is actually trying to work out funding for me because they love me is the worst hope I could ever keep having

I definitely will!

Natalielouise is gonna give us all a little more hope!

Also into feminist/queer lit and the British 19th, here! All of us would be awesome together Dr. Mullen opened a course on autobiographies and anonymity, but she told me she taught it to undergrads. So I don't know if that will be available to grads, too? Either way, I'm super excited.

I asked, too! Just received an answer: 12. Ugh!

Hahaha!! Us cat adopters/cat addicts make the world a better place! And that's the perk of applying late: the waiting is muuuch shorter!

Hahahaha, I'll spam-like you on IG as an answer to that incredibly indecent lack of modesty, Miss Prune.

There's a thread for you, last message from March 13 unless UO and Oregon State are different things!!

I'm a little anxious about funding... but yes I've been spamming a couple friends (and my mom!) about it! I know what I'm gonna do tonight... check out apartments and cat adoption sites... haha !
