  1. Brrrr okay thanks for the precisions. I'm starting to freak out, and I couldn't see which programs the posters were applying to, from my phone. Way to go for those who got their first acceptances!
  2. Dear LORD guys, Duke English or Lit? I'm figuratively dying.
  3. Now I'm thinking I should have used a picture on my CV, so the ad comm couldn't possibly resist my inviting and fun smile.
  4. I think Duke gives out answers in February, maybe even mid- to late Feb. No worries. You'll know if you're rejected or waitlisted, anyway... Edit: just checked past results, looks like it's more likely to be end of the month all through Feb for acceptances.
  5. So many lucky bastards.
  6. Would ya mind saying which program it was that gave their decision? (When it's not on the board)
  7. Now I feel like I should have given it a shot! But wasn't that interested in living there... Good luck to us all!
  8. I was being serious and humorous at the same time. I thought I had read 3/4 somewhere on the school's website. Fyi I'm not applying to schools only for prestige... thanks @poliscar for your message!
  9. So that happened to you too? I love your joke, by the way. Your post makes me feel a little better. Well just not alone, maybe not better, better Yeah... Usually I specifically do a search for other university names, but since I've been busy (and disheartened), I didn't think to do that, it appears. So a lil' Princeton found its way in the Cornell SOP...
  10. @DBear pointed out how I had made the ultimate typo in my SOP for Cornell. I sent a message to the admin service of the application website, I really hope they give me a chance to send a new SOP.... God darn it.
  11. Yeah...
  12. I had to provide translations of unofficial transcripts, and they had to be done by an assermented translator recognized by the American association something.
  13. Except for Cornell, where it's 3
  14. Exactly. Thanks, @Wyatt's Terps.
  15. Ouch! Hopefully that means they'll forget about the typo while reading the sample! I've just submitted my last application. At this stage of the process, I'm not sure I even feel relieved... Now I just want to know and move on. Or not move on, but at least I'd know.
  16. You're right @cloudyword, it should be all the more helpful for those like us who also need to understand the US school system.
  17. I have to say, it's very, VERY american to read books like that
  18. That is so perfectly normal, @Kilos! You're processing, and going through a loss of that nature also redefines your entire life. Something new (and hurtful, for now) is beginning now that you have lost the one reference point one can lose, and it's only natural to be shaken and think about what you actually want. I'm sure you're still excited about grad school deeper in your heart, but you need to mourn and feel weird, first.
  19. Cool suggestion!! That will help me tremendously too, being some kind of foreigner and all
  20. Play the Sims 3 and breed horses.
  21. These posts are making me dream of NYC, now
  22. I thought Linguistics and Women studies were starting to send out results, and then Clinical stuff came back on the board
  23. You do a lot of stuff! I don't know what exactly. But stuff!
