Waiting as a Comp Lit person
Yanaka replied to Straparlare's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Aaaand a no from Duke. -
Yes I'd say that too. The only thing is, that Duke usually seems to send answers earlier than Feb 4, which is probably why @ThePomoHipster is even more desperate than I am!
-
Huh? They online accept one person/year? @ThePomoHipster
-
Congrats to the latest accepted GC-ers! Anyone heard from Duke?

Bienvenido/a in my world!

Waiting as a Comp Lit person
Yanaka replied to Straparlare's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Interesting. I hope you'll get in, if it's the right fit and all, of course! It really seems to be a wonderful campus. But everything progressive is my thang. I see another complit applicant did not survive the Berkeley cut. I'm feeling a little less lonely now. -

Ugh--I don't know, honestly. I guess it is? Did you apply to Berkeley, too? -
Waiting as a Comp Lit person
Yanaka replied to Straparlare's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Well, I asked for it! Got my rejection from UC Berkeley. Darn it -
Ffff... Needing to vent: Berkeley is my dream school and I just know that if I haven't heard from them by Monday evening, it's hopeless! And: seeing comp lit results is starting to make me anxious and realize how tiny my chance is to get into a program. So honestly @imogenshakes be content you at least know you're entering a program next fall!! I don't want to sound bitter though, truly I'm not. I'm very happy for those who received positive results, I know the process has been strenuous for everybody!

Congrats! Yes very lucky!! Am I allowed to be sad, now? Lol -
I have a post-it on my wall (which I should probably copy to keep in my wallet) with reactions, courtesy answers and questions written down

Waiting as a Comp Lit person
Yanaka replied to Straparlare's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Ugh. It's more about wanting to be able to plan the upcoming months... I see the board has a few answers but maybe there are no other Berkeley Comp Lit applicants on Grad Café -
Things to Do While You Wait for Decisions

@crugs the same thing would have happened to me--I would have misinterpreted, my mon would have explained, and then I would have felt both flattered and sad!- 172 replies

I don't know... Berkeley for instance was supposed to send answers by end of Jan. if I refer to an email I received. I think we're very few on GC so who knows if some have already received answers? Bleh~ -
Waiting as a Comp Lit person
Yanaka replied to Straparlare's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Okay, now I'm basically almost-near-close-to convinced I'm rejected everywhere! -
Erhm--I'm not sure you'll find the help you need, since it's also your job to do the research But basically, all PhD programs are usually fully funded. That's why they're so competitive!
