  1. I just got an email yesterday that said the department has recommended me for admission to the graduate school as well. I will have to wait till probably later this week, or next week, to get the official letter, but still will be a rewarding experience as this was my top choice school. No word on funding yet, but apparently there are some GA positions open for next semester and the competition doesn't seem too large. Fingers crossed!
  2. Took test on October 28, got results back November 7. Official arrived at school November 9. For some reason, mine was super fast. EDIT: for the record, it normally is not that fast. Expect the full 15 days for the official scores to be released, and then expect at least 5-10 days for the school to receive the scores. Closer to 5 days if the school is electronic database, or 10 if they have to actually mail it. (this if from the GRE representative I called a week ago)
  3. Finally got notices this morning. (only a few weeks late) The one school I was waiting on to make a decision finally issued a waitlist letter to me, however they are willing to reconsider me for full admission upon receipt of one more letter of recommendation that supports my research and academic skills. (My GPA was at the low end of their cut off apparently). I have contacted the professor and they have agreed to write the letter for me and turn it in by the end of the week. I called the school and they said once they have the letter it should be a quick decision and I will receive all of my student information. (So basically seems like an admission decision to me). Here's to hoping!
  4. Updating my writing score from my earlier post. As for retaking the test, no. I simply do not have time to retake it before applications are due. So, I will be trying and if I don't get in anywhere, I will retake for the next application cycle.
  5. honestly the actual exam was much more difficult than the practice ones. Plus I don't test extremely well due to anxiety. I am still projecting my writing score to be around 5.
  6. This is an interesting, I am starting to get emails from one of the schools about GA opportunities, and fellowship opportunities. I havent even gotten the decision from them yet, but I am getting funding emails, like I am on their mailing list? Seems weird. One was even personalized to me. I am hoping this means I got in and they just havent sent the decision yet.
  7. Power Prep: 1.) V-165 Q-167 2.) V-162 Q-166 Real: V-151, Q-154
  8. I am STILL waiting. Nothing yet. From anyone. I am starting to get very nervous as the time promised for many of these programs was October 15. Maybe I am on the waitlist, or they are waiting for a funding offer from the dean before sending out letters? Tomorrow is already November, I am honestly hoping tomorrow I get the decision.
  9. When did you apply to that one? How long was the wait for you? I am going nuts now that the deadline has passed for mine for a few weeks.
  10. I am going to assume the same thing. You would need to complete the required assignments by the deadline in their time zone. The reason I say this is that all of my experience turning in online assignments and online exams has always been stated at the timezone of the school. I have never had it be a traveling timezone, where it takes it off of your location.
  11. I would say yes it counts. Not every experience you "have" is an in-classroom experience. I would talk about it in your personal statement if you feel it is important to your research interests.
  12. I just got my first correspondance in two weeks from one of my programs. They are verifying my transcripts that I uploaded into my application. I wonder if that means they are already out of committee and the graduate school is now doing the final checks? I want there to just be a decision already!
  13. I would pick option 2. The reason is because you already have a heavy research recommendation. I think it would give your application a more holistic package for the graduate schools to consider.
  14. I am still waiting. I am pretty sure the decisions were due to me for some of my schools either last week, or this week. Unfortunately one of my schools is not well applied to, so I do not know when I should be expecting that response. The waiting is killing me with anticipation!
  15. I am glad it all worked out in the end for you Great story of how you sometimes need to take risks in life to get a pay out.
  16. I can not speak to a vitae, as I have not had to create one for myself yet, however, an academic resume really just focuses attention on your research, publications, degrees, skills as they relate to acadamea, etc. It really is meant to give the school a well rounded image of you and how you plan to be successful in their academic/research program. For my academic resume, I list my honors capstones and independant research projects, my degree, teaching assistantships, and honor societies as well as skills as they relate to being successful in graduate study. (If I had publications, I would list them as well) I hope this helps!
  17. Same. I am getting nervous by the day since they are all rolling admission schools and I submitted my applications to all of them more than a month ago. *sigh* I guess I am just going to have to relax and keep sipping on coffee, or something. This is so stressful to be going through during your last semester of undergrad.
  18. I am still waiting on mine. It is getting really nerve wrecking as I still need to figure out living situations and it is only two and a half months away till the start of the spring semester!
  19. I still have yet to hear back from my four programs. I am hoping to hear back before November.
