  1. Welp, looks like I won't be moving in with my in-laws to go to Stanford.
  2. I don't know why but the waiting has seemed so much harder and more daunting to me! Part of my just wants an answer. But then that answer might be no so I don't want to hear it!
  3. In the portals. Which I'm terrified that I'm not checking correctly.
  4. The results page shows people in the past also getting news through the schools' websites. Just one more place to check constantly. For people who have heard from Pittsburgh, did you apply for the dual masters?
  5. I have a couple of schools where the website shows a letter missing, but I contacted them directly and they confirmed the letters were in. I would say check with the school and see if he can email it directly to someone at the program.
  6. I've had quite a number of celebrity encounters. Since yesterday was the Super Bowl, time to drop a relevant name! I met Tom Brady once. Had no clue who he was; Giselle was there too, but I didn't talk to her. George Lopez has really sweet and polite kids. I'd be ok not meeting Kobe Bryant again. Travis Barker is super nice and appreciates his fans. Met one of the Wayans brothers, who was really nice. Hands down my favorite was when Rebel Wilson asked how I was and then said "cheers."
  7. Ultrapeaches- I would be tempted to go to Costco every day!
  8. Checking my email nearly constantly and going over potential interview questions in my head. I've been trying to think of situations I've been in that are relevant. The thing I keep reminding myself is that there are 77 days until Match Day, and they have to send interview invites before then, so every day I go without hearing something increases the odds that I'll hear something (good or bad) the next day.
  9. Thanks! I don't want to be out of place and too dressed up! I don't go until March 31st.
  10. Responses seem to come in waves, generally.
  11. That's awesome that you have that relationship with her! I spent far too long looking for clothes yesterday. Decided on my suit pretty quickly, but went to multiple stores looking for a shirt to go with it. Got home and decided I hate the one I ended up buying. Back to the drawing board! I'm going to dinner the night before my UAMS interview. Any suggestions on what to wear?
  12. Alright that's perfect!! Thank you!
  13. Speaking of gifts, I'm having trouble picking one out for one of my recommenders. She's super sweet, loves to sew, and plays board games with her husband a lot. I know her professionally because of her toddler son, and I bought him one of my favorite childhood books (he loves having people read to him). I was thinking a new game would be fun for her. Any suggestions?
  14. Sam Kean has some fun, anecdotal science books, one about genetics, one about neurology, and one about the periodic table.
  15. I'm feeling the same way! I just keep checking...
  16. I'm somewhat familiar with AVID. It impacted your education and your experiences, and you were a strong advocate for the program! I'd definitely make sure it's in there. Show who you are and why you're that person. You'll do great!
  17. Mine went somewhat chronological, depending on the school. I talked about how I'm a first generation college graduate, how I had to work multiple jobs to pay for my undergrad, etc. Then I talked about how I became interested in GC and my advocacy experience before moving on to what I want to do in the future.
  18. I'm fancy now!! Thankys, @minja134 and @slaybackc!
  19. I thought that was a profile setting that I just never figured out how to use!
  20. I missed that on Utah's website, so thank you! That means I can relax at least a smidgeon. For now.
  21. I got an email from Stanford on the 12th that they were still missing letters and needed them ASAP because they were going to start reviewing applications the next day. So hopefully we'll start to hear soon!
  22. I really wish I could set a time on gmail so I could only check it every so often. But then again I'd just be checking here more, I guess. I didn't apply to SLC for the same reason you previously didn't. Then afterwards I remembered that someone in my office grew up not far from there and asked her about the area. After that conversation, I should have applied! Maybe next year if I don't get in this year. Cheers to empty bank accounts!
  23. I've got to second what slaybackc said. Location is a big deal and you have to be comfortable/not miserable where you go. It is only two years though. I know it's hard to say no to an interview between the time and money you've put in to it and the fear of not getting other acceptances, but if you ultimately don't want to be there you should focus on your other potential programs instead.
  24. I'm sorry to hear that. Will the other schools look at your new GREs? Hopefully you get constructive feedback on your application and then get accepted elsewhere!
