  1. I know UCI hasn't sent out invites yet, but I'm on my last day of vacation in Orange County and figured I'd make a quick plug. I flew into the Long Beach Airport this time, which was $200 cheaper than anything else I could find and is always super easy to navigate because it's tiny. (I love tiny airports and will do absolutely everything in my power to avoid LAX.) It is about a 20-30 minute drive to the medical center, unless it's rush hour. The John Wayne airport is about 5 minutes close and is really nice, too, but with more people/traffic.
  2. I was really hoping for word from Pittsburgh about interviews this week, but no luck. I'm in Southern California for the weekend hoping that I can just not think about it for a few days.
  3. I was supposed to go camping with my parents and a bunch of their friends this weekend. As much as I keep wanting to discuss applications and interviews here and with my friends, I really was not looking forward to 10 different people asking me the same questions over and over again. Talking on here or with friends is calming. Talking about it with parents and their friends just sounds agonizing.
  4. I'd be lying if I said I haven't been checking throughout the day. Nothing yet, but that's ok. Congrats on the interview!!
  5. I emailed them yesterday to ask, ready to hear that I had been rejected. They are hoping to send out the rest of the interview invitations this week! They've sent out less than half at this point.
  6. Insane may be a bit hyperbolic, but news would be nice. I was giving it until mid week this week before contacting them. I've emailed the program regarding letters and application questions and they've been really great!
  7. I haven't heard anything from Pittsburgh either. Slowly going insane over here.
  8. Time to take yourself out for a nice dinner or get a massage or something!
  9. That really sucks, I'm sorry. Ugh. I'm sorry.
  10. I'm already feeling the dread, nervousness, and disappointment because my email box is empty. Reminding myself that it is still early in the day and Utah hasn't rejected me yet.
  11. I've been thinking old fashion letters and warned my husband that he has to check the mail every day if it doesn't get here by the time I leave for the weekend. I didn't even think about it being an email and can legitimately feel the adrenaline rush at the thought! I've also been harping over what it means that they go out today if it is physical mail. Does that mean that the letters will be with the post office today? Will they be put in the mailbox at 5pm and actually get in the mail tomorrow, prolonging my agony one day further?? This is how my brain works.
  12. @Ultrapeaches, I'm totally jealous of your heel-wearing talent! I love high heels! They don't love me.
  13. So excited it's finally here! And glad that I can't check my US mail repeatedly throughout the day. Kind of on the make up front- I was reading something that cautioned against wearing perfume or really anything with a scent. While some interviewers may be ok with it, some may be annoyed or have a physical issue. You definitely don't want to trigger a migraine for your interviewer.
  14. Flats that you can walk in! Unless you can walk all day in heels (I would end up miserable and/or at the hospital if I did) and are more comfortable with that. There are some pretty cute ones by Naturalizer that I've literally walked 7 miles a day in with no issues.
  15. I bought a nice black purse, big enough to fit a notepad, water bottle, and a snack. I think a briefcase might be too much since you aren't needing to bring stuff for a presentation or anything. But do what is going to be comfortable for you. If a briefcase boosts your confidence, rock a brief case!
  16. I'd tell you to relax and not to worry, but I know how much easier said than done that is right now!
  17. I think if it says complete you should be good. Mine showed incomplete until after I mailed back a residential tuition thing they sent me. Did you get the letter about your csu email address?
  18. I'm in the same boat! So today I am hanging out on the couch, getting plenty of fluids and vitamins, and resting.
  19. Since we're pursuing a field that is something like 90-95% women, happy International Girls in Science Day! I feel like someone owes me cake.
  20. I now have my CSU-Stan email hooked up to my phone so I don't miss anything there either.
  21. That probably just means ours haven't been looked at yet! I feel better now, thank you!
  22. I didn't apply to Northwestern or Mount Sinai, but I can commiserate on not hearing anything from Pittsburgh. I'm telling myself it's because I went for the dual masters.
  23. Fellow sub 3.0er here! It's great that the last two years you GPA was a lot better. But given your overall GPA is still low, you need to figure out how else to make yourself stand apart from the piles of applications. Do you have experience in your intended field? Can you potentially job shadow? Taking time off of school is not a bad thing and gives you time to strengthen your skills and application.
  24. So I feel bad for my husband and friends because all I want to talk about is grad school. I can't help it! But next weekend I'm visiting my parents and apparently we're going camping with their friends. I really don't want to talk about grad school with them because I think that will just stress me out more! How are you guys holding up to curious family members?
  25. I don't know why, but this struck me as really funny. I would like t-shirts, please and thank you. =P
