  1. If it makes you feel better, I emailed another school I applied to last week and was told "by the end of the week", and it was actually the next day that I heard back.
  2. Seeing as I have been rejected from everywhere I've heard from so far, my idea might not be so crazy anymore! Learning Portuguese would be super beneficial in my field, so I'm thinking of becoming TEFL certified and teaching English in Brazil.
  3. " All applicants will receive an admissions decision notification via email by April 1." Straight from the email, although it does seem a bit strange
  4. I contacted the graduate school admissions at UVA, and was told all of their notices will be out by April 1st. That doesn't help much, but is something!
  5. Any thoughts from anyone about if it's too soon to contact a school to ask if they've made any decisions, or when we could expect decisions?
  6. Do you all think that if I haven't heard from UVA at this point since they've been pretty active, it's reasonable to think I was rejected?
  7. Dang, I immediately began frantically refreshing my email after reading this!
  8. Religion in the Americas at Harvard. It said in my original email that the GSAS had finished reviewing the applications, so it sucks that it's taking so long for them to let the rest of you know. They said I would hear back about my MTS application by mid-March, if anyone else is curious.
  9. That was me, I posted about it on here on the day it happened
  10. Logged into Rice's portal to find out I'd been rejected just now, although I haven't gotten the official email yet. :/
  11. I applied to the History of Religion specifically for African Religions at UVA, and have heard nothing. I have also heard nothing from Rice. :/
  12. Oh wow, that would be a bit tough to find. I'm not religious so I didn't have that problem, but those are two great schools!
  13. UVA, Rice University, Harvard. Harvard is the only one I've heard back from, they couldn't let me in the PhD program but gave me a week to apply for the Master's program, which I'm currently doing.
  14. I'm interested in ethnographic work, specifically race/gender in contemporary Afro-Diapsoric religions!
  15. I applied to UCSB! Hopefully we're hearing soon, when I was out there visiting in August, the graduate advisor told me the prospective student weekend would *hopefully* be sometime in March. So I'm assuming they'd let people know if they need to travel out to California with a little bit of notice.
  16. Congrats!!! How'd you find out? (I know online the website said something about using email or physical mail) I also applied to Rice, and am waiting to hear still.
  17. Yep, finishing my bachelor's this May. I figured that it was a bit of a stretch to get in without a Master's.
  18. I just got an email that Harvard and the CSR is unable to accept me for the PhD program, although I can basically fill out a new application for the Masters degree program. Does anyone have any experience with this? Like, is this just a formality type of thing or do they recommend it because they think that I could actually get into that program?
  19. My interests are Afro-Diasporic religions in contemporary North America. Thanks for the rest of the tips! I come from a pretty small undergrad only Religious Studies department, so I'm the only one going through grad school applications as far as I know, which means I feel a little lost sometimes about what exactly to expect.
  20. Hey everyone, long-term lurker, first time poster. Anyone else waiting to hear back from: UCSB, Rice, UVA, or Harvard? I've seen a few of those mentioned above, although I must admit I'm starting to get a little nervous that I have heard nothing about any interviews...
