I just want to send out some good vibes to everyone participating in this forum. I found this thread extremely supportive in such an emotionally charged time. So thank you to all of you!
To those of you who won, a heartfelt congratulations! To those of you still soldiering on, I am right there with you!

Awarded a Bombardier CGS with a score of 15.3/20. First time applying as an incoming doctoral student beginning in the fall of 2018. I have 1 publication (lead author), 6 conference presentations, 4 of which were international conferences. I Received a CGS-M in 2016 as a MSC student but as I have read that may have little impact on being awarded a CGS at the doctoral level. When I had originally applied I had no idea where or what doctoral program I would be attending and listed what at that time was my number 1. Is anyone familiar with the process by which I should be starting to activate or inform the school/program I will be starting at in the fall 2018?
And to all those waiting, it seems that everyone here is more than qualified to received one of these awards. I made it a priority to focus my application around the themes SSHRC had identified in 2017 as areas of interest and then relate them to my research interests. Everyone has other scholarships, we all have good grades, and solid letters of reference. The only thing I can think of is maybe trying to relate your "Program of Study" portion of the application back to that. Best of luck to everyone in their studies. PS is anyone taking a CGS of Doctoral Fellowship to Waterloo?

Hi guys, thought I would chime in with my results since I've been lurking this forum waiting to see if results had been released!
I won a Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS with a score of 16.1/20. I had 2 multi-author pubs, 3 conferences. My Masters GPA was a 4.42/4.5, and I held a Masters SSHRC.
It's my second year applying. Last year, with a nearly identical application, I wound up with a terrible score. I'm definitely happy, but also blown away by how much of a crapshoot the process is. My only advice is reapply, reapply, reapply. Eventually, hopefully, your application will land in the right hands. Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard yet!

Luck absolutely plays a big part in these things - Last year I was put forward by my school for the Trudeau Scholarship - my score from SSHRC though? 9.2/20!
This year I got the fellowship, and my score is 18.9/20. Absolutely ridiculous considering my proposal remained the same, but I added two conferences and a single journal article (which should absolutely not warrant over doubling my score.)

Just found out I got the Joseph-Armand Bombardier award! First time applying (but already 2 years into a doctoral program - so was my one and only chance to get it).

Holy crap, just found out from my awards office (at UW) that I'm being awarded a SSHRC doctoral fellowship - in complete disbelief considering last year I received an incredibly low score of 9.2/20.

Just got the results in the mail this morning (Montreal) and got funding for my fifth year. Just wanted to let everyone who didn't get it to know that even if you didn't get it this year (or the year before, or the year before that...etc.) that you shouldn't give up hope!

Emailed the graduate scholarship liaison officer at Dalhousie and found out that I won a 36 month SSHRC doctoral scholarship for 20 000/year. I was debating waiting until my letter arrived but the waves of anxiety were making it impossible to get anything done (and I have lots to get done this week). If you combine attempts at the masters and doctoral SSHRCs, this was my fourth attempt. Last year I didn't even make it to the national competition. Honestly, the most exciting thing about winning it this year is not having to go through another round of applications next year. Best of luck to everyone!

Hey all - my partner just called me to let me know that my letter arrived in the mail today (I'm at the University of Ottawa, living in Ottawa, which is likely why it came so fast). I got the two-year, 20k/year doctoral fellowship with a score of 15/20. (!!!)
For anyone who's interested, this is my third time applying for a SSHRC (rejected for Masters, waitlisted for Doctoral last year). The essay portion of my application remained almost exactly the same between last year and this year, but I received OGS last year & I had quite a few more first author and co-author publications and presentations this year.
Good luck, everyone!

Long time lurker who decided to do my civic duty and report back to thegradcafe comrades. Received my letter in Ottawa today. Was awarded a CGS at 15.3 (which is definitely an improvement on last year's 8)! Do we just send an e-mail to SSHRC to accept?

So, my result just came in the mail in Montreal. I wasn't successful, but apparently I'm on the waiting list. Does anyone know how often the waiting list thing comes through?

Last year SSHRC tweeted on Tues April 26th that letters had been mailed out. My friend in Ottawa got hers Mon April 25th (day before tweet). My friend and I who are located in Southern Ontario got ours on April 26th.
Here is a pic from SSHRC's Twitter account today. Should arrive any day now.....

I'm too scared! From past forums, a non-response ("you will hear from SSHRC directly") seems to suggest a rejection. I don't want to do it!

If you look back through previous years' threads, you'll see that this happens every single year. And every year, it's the same conclusion: there is no correlation between seeing the Supplement on your portal and getting a SSHRC. There are two SSHRC portals: one general one and one for the doctoral fellowship. They don't show the same thing when you log in (go figure!) and only the doctoral portal displays the Michael Smith Foreign Supplement. It appears for everyone, even those who don't get the scholarship or who are not eligible for the supplement.
I hope this will reassure some people!
(Edited in case you want to check for yourself: link for the general portal -- https://webapps.nserc.ca/SSHRC/faces/logon.jsp and link for the doctoral portal -- https://webapps.nserc.ca/SSHRC/faces/logonFellowships.jsp?lang=en_CA )

You are my hero. I just logged in through the doctoral portal and I can see the form there, while I cannot see the form when I login through the general portal. What a stupid system.
As yes, you have reassured me that there is absolutely no correlation.
